I know this is long dead but as for the names of the characters, it's explained in the first book that Katniss and Prim were named after flowers that her father and mother used to see whenever they went to a pond or other place like that (Katniss and Primroses are actual flowers, though the real names are Sagittaria and Primula Vulgaris)
Sorry but Primula Vulgaris would be horrible for a girl to be named..
