Reid is so full of shit and even the white house wont back him up on his claims. this 2012 campaign from the Oboner administration is atrocious and there is so much blatant slandering that it's so easy to see through.

My guess is that he has a low tax rate, somewhere around 15-20% which is legal but kinda low with the tax debate as it is now. It's probably just low enough to be under the marginal tax rates of middle class people which won't look good.

However, I still wouldn't be surprised if there was something crazy in there, because John McCain saw his tax returns and picked Palin lol

As for the tax issue, I personally think what he's hiding has to do with 2008/2009 (IMO obvious why). I don't necessarily think McCain chose Palin over Romney for tax reasons, but rather because Palin was a strategic move to appeal to certain voter bases much like Obama was -- so he needed a weapon of comparable magnitude.

The fact that Romney refuses to release those tax returns (like everyone else has done) is what started the whole thing. Dude brought it on himself. :P

Anytime I hear a story like this, I can't help but feel like it's nothing but a bunch of publicity stunts in an effort to sway voters. I sit here and think about what kinds of reactions the people will have when all of these accusations fall flat. If Romney is overly defensive about his situation while being truthful to his word, it could be one of many things that voters might find appealing. It's precisely as hi19 said.

I think he's trying to make a big spectacle of it, before finally releasing his spotlessly clean tax records and making Reid look like a total douchebag.

Then again, I'm ignorant when it comes to anything involving politics. Having a point of view is never bad, though.
