Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
[I think you meant Heavy and Standard respectively?]
Handjacks were too much for you? Found that a bit surprising; it's no dump by any means.
As for Standard difficulty, I'm also surprised that you thought it wasn't flowy. The sparseness left room for a lot of flowy 12ths streams, especially that ending. I thought it felt quite nice to the hands. What more flow were you looking for?Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
Standard flowed very well, but I thought it was a touch underlayered. Heavy was just right, but the jacks kinda disrupted the flow (might just be because I'm bad, though). I would have liked to see a chart that balanced the two approaches.Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
I could eeeasily do that. Probably didn't do so before because it wouldn't have created much of a difficulty gap. Add a bit of layering to the sparser parts of Standard and it won't be too much different from Heavy.Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
I'm gonna assume this was for my file as well right? :VI really liked the mine progression in the heavy chart. with the crazy filtering going on and getting more intense throughout the song's duration, I thought you did a great job of capturing the feeling of the music. I barely noticed the actual patterns, because I was iN dA zOnE dodging mines hehe.
I totes agree with what moches said about pattern flow though. accurate layering and PR and everything can be really cool, but sacrifices must be made for the sake of playability. I gotta work on that myself.Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
The first file I played was Getsufumaden just cause of the sampling reminding me of Capcom vs SNK 2. I feel so dirty for admitting that...
@boyfriend: I played Sock's Standard chart cause the song got stuck in my head while making GFX for it. Until I failed, it felt pretty neat, so know that the first half's okay in my book at least. I tried Heavy and failed out sooner, so can't really say anything about that. One thing I noticed about your files is the attention to detail helps make difficult but enjoyable files. You're like the Atlus of Stepmania.
Now if you made easy charts...Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 Released
Thanks for reviews of my files! Looks like Neurotoxin was generally more well accepted than the other two submissions
I need to write a full review too; have an idea in mind but need time to pull it off...
Thank you!
Thanks! Actually I'm really curious as to how you stepped it. Could you send me a preview?
Thanks! I was already hesitant to layer it any further as it is chock-full of hands actually. Could have thrown in more stuff but I think I wanted to keep it more minimalistic
All I can say is...
TSUMO.
Thanks for the full pack review! Happy you enjoyed them; I think our stepping concepts aren't very different from what I've seenMy TOP 5 !!!
1. Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu -Gekijouban
2. VALLISTA
3. Extermination
4. Battlefield
5. Vortex
HONORABLE MENTION : Excalibur, Neurotoxin, Passage D, Hanz Up, 532nm, Whore, too many ****ing files.
Neurotoxin (LongGone) THE FILE IS SO COOL I THOUGH IT WAS LEONID AT FIRST <3 And this file has everything I like in a good file, the song choice is neat, and it does half the work in the file being good.
Sweet Drops (LongGone) Everything was okay and as an anime op file I find this above average.
VALLISTA (LongGone) PERFECT EXECUTION. I have nothing to add, I liked it a lot, it was fun, and your dosing of difficulty was the most balanced of the universe.
I feel like going bass fishing now
Thank you! Admittedly, I don't expect many to like sweet drops as a song (its just from a show which I loved)
Glad you enjoyed this file! Actually, I didn't step Star Trail 4k. GD made all the charts for 4k, while I did the 6k charts. Both our charts have fairly different takes on the song, too.Neurotoxin - first Star Trail and now this. LongGone is on his way to becoming one of my favorite stepartists. beautifully crafted file; whoever made the comparison to ODIpack2's Nightmare hit the nail on the head. deft patterns and rhythms but navigated with a sense of melodic richness and bombastic technique that seriously feels like I'm not just playing this song but playing this song, y'know what I mean but seriously this is a good file y'all and everybody should play it peace out I have a 4-page report due tomorrow but fuc that shit when I can be playing ~STEPMANIA~
(and that ODI2 Nightmare comparison was for another file in the pack, not this lol)

Thanks! Sweet Drops was at attempt at a low/med difficulty file. Vallista was a little more haphazard due to the layering; I kinda ran out of space to layer at some parts rip. I'm honoured that you like them!Sweet Drops - this file just makes me really happy. easy but adorable and fun. rainbows/10 (that said, it's a bit simplified at parts, missing a few details in the layering. I actually prefer it that way as it gives the file a reliable structure, but others might disagree)
Vallista - really nice but I wish more of the melodic stuff had been prominent in this file. I'm also glad somebody else is carrying on my ~teal note~ legacy lol. LongGone had some amazing stuff in this pack <3
