most importantly, sit at a desk when you play, sitting awkwardly will only hurt you.

I do when I'm playing index, but you'd be surprised about how comfortable this is for spread! If anything, it feels more comfy than when I sit up. I don't own a desk, I own too much video gaming and anime paraphernelia to fit one ^_^

Viola. Any tips on playstyle improvement are appreciated!

For longer songs I play with my hand rested on a flat surface, so as to hold stamina obviously.

It might just be me, but for a lot of regular length songs I play such that my wrist is hanging over a desk, or just with some air underneath and freedom of movement. I find I can hit jacks and trills at a slightly quicker rate, and it gives me more control in jumpstreams because I can accent jumps better which really helps

Give it a try and see if it's for you? Maybe try playing on the edge of your bed?
