Even if it doesn't produce a skill boost, I still say cleaning one's KB is well worth the effort. (Canned air works best for this, if only because I have one of those mini-vacuums and it doesn't do shit for my Dell RT7D20.)

Cleaning the keyboard prevents the keys from sticking and makes the keyboard more aesthetically pleasing.

Although I don't eat over my keyboard, I clean my keyboard and PC with an air compressor once every year as part of my annual 'maintenance'.

Weird I just shook my keyboard back and forth as hard as I could and pretty much nothing came out. And I'm pretty sure there is like a whole bag of chips crushed under the keys (+noodles, bread, etc..):/ ?_?

You shouldn't have to clean your keyboards often. If after a while you notice your keys are harder to press, take of your key caps and clean out the dust and hair and other disgusting things, but try to remember than membrane switches and for that matter most rubber dome switches won't stay crisp for too long (this includes scissor-switches - they're just mini rubber domes with scissor-switch stabilizers).

What I'm saying is, get a mechanical keyboard if you really care about any of this. Easy to clean and the switches last longer.
