Re: Why most people don't finish video games

I finish every game that I start, but like, games like StarCraft 2 I finished the campaign, but most people play it just for the multiplayer, many of the players never even touch the single player, so by the standards of this article, they would probably be counted as not finishing a game they started (assuming they started the single player anyway).

Most gamers play multiplayer games now, I feel the only people who really finish out the single players are the gamers who are in it for a good story, which from my experience is not a majority of them.

XII was pretty nonlinear. It was actually a complaint from a lot of people that it was too open. I have a few friends who simply stopped playing it because they couldn't find what they were looking for. I suppose before i try to argue whatever point my half asleep brain is trying to make i should ask how far back "of late" contains, but w/e.

Haven't had a good game to play in a little while, I just 100% Lost Odyssey and FFXIII (Although 100% doesn't really apply to that game). With work and what-not it's difficult to really get into anything. I usually end up setting the game down and forgetting about it until months later.

            Most games, nowadays, suck.

Re: Why most people don't finish video games

I love how the people who are, 'That article's whack' are all under the age of 20, and yet somehow feel like 'they know better' than the guy who makes a living writing about video games.

I, too, lose interest in many video games. As such, I don't play a whole lot of them, although I will say I've played more in the past 5 years than I did the previous 5. These days, I still play WoW, I play arcade-style games that you generally can't 'win' (shmups and ffr), and long games with STORY! I ****ing love being able to makes choices in games; I'm playing Last Express right now, and it's so much fun! And some games I still haven't finished, like Dragon Age, I still *plan* on finishing, some day.

Aaaaand, the reason to BUY games you know you won't play right away is because when you do finally get around to playing them, you won't be able to find it anywhere, not for anything but a mint. Seems likely for console releases popular that aren't popular in north america.

And for all those young 'completists' out there...you're the type of person who will not be 'finishing' video games in the future, I guarantee it. If you can't learn to have fun without finding every stupid chotchkey, you may stop playing them altogether if the industry doesn't change quickly. My bf has finally stopped finishing terribad games that are all 'more of the same' as it goes on, and it's a GOOD thing, because he probably has 50 untouched games, half of them which are probably better than the shit like Kingdom Hearts 2, where you run around button mashing and then spend the rest of the time watching ten minute remakes of disney movies.

And I totally want multiplayer games. Doesn't even need to be online multiplayer. IMO there's like a huge gap of decent, co-op games to play, and it bothers the crap out of me. Probably why I spend so much time on WoW, and why so many people are going the MMO route.

That shit awesome game? It was OK to me. Once in awhile, I like playing button mashing games.

Re: Why most people don't finish video games

I like how the article only states FPS/Multiplayer FPS games. I'd like him to include ONE Strategy, or RPG game. FFX and FFXII were very fun, the latter had the most out of all the FFs to do, imo. I never have even beat the last mark because I couldn't beat the King Behemoth, and never actually bothered to go all the way under the light house to fight the Oracle, since it was all just the same deal of "FIND ORBS, PUT IN SOCKETS, LIGHT LEVEL, PROCEED TO NEXT LEVEL.", but I would gladly go back to it. I racked up a nice amount of hours on that game.

Few games have made me stop them. I usually just grit my teeth and beat it. The list of games I have beaten is a long one, and the list I have ditched/defeated me is really short.

THOUGH, I do miss the days of Contra, and Final Fantasy 6. SNES was the ****ing bomb. I'm only 15, and I remember those days fondly. They were the days before shallow gamers appeared and chose a game because the guy on the cover has a gun or looks cool.

edit: Games aren't getting harder, either. They're in fact getting too easy. It's like the companies WANT to bitchslap the veteran gamers and drive them away from their games.

tl;dr: I rant about FFX/FFXII haters and reminisce about the 'good ol days'.

100% on all kindomhearts games .

I only finish the ones worth finishing. Like for instance you get a secret preview at the end of a KH game.

I don't see how Kingdom Hearts 2 is a "shit" game. Your opinions come off very strong.

Kingdom Hearts isn't the best game in the world in terms of difficulty, and some games (Mostly RPGs) aren't meant to be just played. They are meant to be cherished and remembered. I don't care if say, FF7 is easy. It is. It's memorable though, and that's why most people love it.

Kingdom Hearts is way easy in many ways, but it's not like they didn't put some challenges in the game off to the side.
