Re: DDR Memories...
I started probably back in the early 2000s, maybe 2001 or 2002. Before then, I was aware of DDR but didn't really care about it. First DDR machine I saw was Max2. But the first one I actually played was Extreme, shortly after it was officially released. I was playing it at the annual fairgrounds, where an arcade under a tent was set up. I really loved it for some reason.
I can't remember the first song I played, but probably one of my earliest ones was Telephone Operator on standard. I remember a kid was impressed with me playing that song lol. "The telephone operator ha ha, ha ha, ha ha, ha ha, ha..."
I had a good start compared to others, but other people quickly surpassed me in skill. I actually didn't peak that far - the best stuff I could do was AA Xenon on heavy, or FC So Deep on heavy. I didn't even get many AAs, mainly because almost all of the machines I've played were stomped the hell out - one or more of the arrow pads were desensitized.
Because of that, I had a better time playing at home, except I missed the bar. So I learned some balance while playing at home. My first home version was Konamix for the PS, which had some pretty early songs that you don't hear anymore, such as patsenner, On the jazz, and Ska a go go. I eventually bought the japanese version of Max2, then the US versions of Max2 and Extreme (I torrented the rest lol).
I have to say that my interest in DDR dwindled around the time Supernova came out.Comment

Re: DDR Memories...
About 7 years ago I played at my friends house randomly when i didnt even know DDR existed...
Then I stole... er.... borrowed extreme 2 version and played it with a controller until I could AA PSMO everytime, thinking I was a badass.
Then I found out the arcade <1 mile from my house had an arcade version of extreme 2, so I proceeded to play that on light for a week, bouncing as much as possible thinking it was healthy o.o...
Then like a year later i saw a couple play and HOLD DOWN THE MIDDLE BUTTON... and I flipped out when I saw an options menu and from that day I played on heavy, and Im still trying to get better... pluto relinquished on expert almost beat ._.

Re: DDR Memories...
Extreme 2 was the best one anyway
Edit: I started by playing at an arcade in Edmonton on a vacation like 6 years ago (failing beginner, ahaha) but I enjoyed it. I got DDR Extreme 2 (I think, could be wrong) and a pad for christmas that year and played it nonstop. I managed to be able to FC Heavy songs within a month of getting it and I played it for like a year before I decided to search for an online version because I thought it would be cool. I googled something like "Online DDR Game" and FFR came up... played it and loved it. I played it for half a year or so before actually making an account. FFR eventually got me into StepMania too

Re: DDR Memories...
I played it a few times back when I was in primary school in the summer as they had an after school club with euromix on ps1 set up, but the time I really got into it was when I found out about Trocadero (and the amount of brilliant *ahem* machines they have there). Most of the time I stick to pump but I started DDR on doubles at troc, then bought 2 softpads, and all 3 EU PS1 games that were DDR (EuroMix, Disney Mix and Party Edition). Man do I miss speedmods when I'm playing at home :vTrilogy : Gideon
Yeah I still play DJMAX Trilogy. Occasionally. When I'm bored. Or just feel like 7k charts.Comment

Re: DDR Memories...
ah DDR memories: well i was 13 or 14 i don't remember but i was in high school and my friends got a chance to set up there DDR pads and Max 2 well of course i knew what DDR was but at that point i thought it was the dumbest thing ever and i was like i would never play it. but my friend who i was sitting with who owned the same game he told come over and play it so after school i played my first ever game of DDR on beginner and i remember the first song D2R by Naoki i thought it was hard so i kept playing and playing and playing untill i became addicted to the arrows rofl. so about 4 months past and i was already playing on standard so i found out they had a machine in our only arcade so me and a couple people went up there and played against others and we got killed since they played heavy so i played alot more often then i remember my first heavy pass was Destiny also a Naoki song
. but then a few weeks later at the arcade someone noticed me playing and asked if i had ever heard of FFR and told me to join but i had no internet access at home and my school had the site blocked to there went that idea. but one day at my arcade they had replaced the DDR program in out machine to Stepmania so now we had all the mixes and the itg mixes as well and creator files on one machine and thats what inspired me to dl SM and start making charts. thats my story
now as for favorite mixes i personally like Max2 not just because it was the first one i played it is the song selection which is great alot of good real dance songs are on it. but i like almost every mix except after Supernova it started to focus too much into the mainstream but Max,Max2,Extreme,Extreme2,Supernova had great songs
Max (Favorite Song): would have to be Dark Black Forest such a fun chart
Max2 (Favorite Song): i would say So Deep really fun heavy chart still need to AAA i have flaged it.
Extreme (Favorite Song): it is A only because i love the beginning being so slow and fun
Extreme2 (Favorite Song: lol even i think this is self explained Sakura XD (even though thats not what my name is from)
Supernova (Favorite Song) : Fascination ~Eternal Love Mix~ i love how dark and hardcore the song sounds
now here i am 21 and still an arrow addictLast edited by sakura080789; 04-12-2011, 11:43 AM.Comment

Re: DDR Memories...
I have no clue how young I was. Just a wee lad. First time I ever played ddr was on a crappy plastic pad at my house on DDR Konomix for the Playstation. Since then, I have probably played each game that has come out either in the arcade or at home. No place near me has a machine any more so I haven't played in quite some time, but I used to be really good.Comment

Re: DDR Memories...
Started because I saw a video on youtube of someone Freestyling on DDR Extreme. Then I went to a dave In Busters in GA and they had it there. Spent around 20 bucks on DDR while there. Mom was trying to figure out why i was so sweaty.lol Started out on Light and moved up from there. Got my first DDR game when i got a ps2 about 6 years ago. My favorite song is anything by Captain Jack(R.I.P). DDR was a gateway to alot of other music based games(PIU,ITG,DJ Hero,Guitar Hero,Pop n" Music, etc).

Re: DDR Memories...
First time I played DDR, I was just starting to become good friends with Superfreak04 and he dragged me to Oddessy Fun World to play ITG and I ended up spending >9000 dollars (moar like $15 in quarters) for us to play because he didn't have any. I was 15. Good times them ITG Mondays were.
