I'm going based off a norm for the quality of music of general performers. Yes, much of it is my opinion, but I'm looking at much of it from a standpoint as a singer/musician myself. Such as I have learned, oftentimes the OPINION of a "master" or such professional in a field can be taken as fact. Otherwise, majority-rules type deals go into effect, again if a majority were to agree with me it could be taken down as a fact, even if a simple major opinion would be its base. I thought that it was unnecessary for you to take all the time just to do that as clearly it was already IMO (for the most part).

No, I listen to a very wide variety of music so my opinion is extremely valid.

Just cause you listen to a wide variety of music doesn't make your opinion any more valid. You don't like Lady Gaga or Justin Beieber but they're good performers, and honestly, I like Lady Gaga not that I'd actually go out of my way to listen to her. If she pops up on the radio I'm happy. If you don't like her fine but your point in your posts was saying that dislike=/=bad. Can you tell me WHY Lady Gaga is a poor performer?

Yes, he's talented, but he is not some techno god sent from the heavens to give us the gift of music (which is how a lot of his fans portray him). He's good, don't get me wrong, but horribly overrated.

If people are saying that, yeah, overrated but around here, right in his home town most people just listen to Drake and other Hip-Hop which I can't stand. He has a lot of skill. His music (Really only in his older popular albums IMO) were really generic and stuff, I didn't like his first album with Ghosts N' Stuff on it but his new one has put him at #1 for me, and I listen to a lot of electronic music. But again he's no GODSEND, just a really good artist.

Also sorry I'm stupid for not appreciation an artist with no talent. If it's about what he's saying I might be wrong but I honestly don't expect anything intelligent to come out of that guy and I can't really understand him so I don't know how I'll ever really know without looking up his lyrics.

I'm not saying anybody's opinion is worth less. I'm saying what you're saying with the only difference of saying I think Lil'Wayne is a bad artist cause he lacks any sort of talent. I think people just listen to that crap for persona. That is something you can say "In my opinion" as I may be wrong, and talent really isn't subjective. Maybe I just don't understand why people like him, but I personally doubt it.

Yeah that's basically what I said in my earlier post about talent musically. I find that I have a good ear for perfect pitch and I quite enjoy listening to live performances to see if people really have the ability they do on a recording (much of which is so mixed and built these days it's impossible to tell who ACTUALLY has talent anyways), because I have found that people like Lady GaGa actually have a strong persona and voice live, versus other artists who are godawful live.

Personal preference does definitely play a strong part in the whole argument, but evidence proves that certain artists have fanbases and talent for a reason. My problem with rap is that the lyrics are so overblown, played out, and meaningless these days and most of the people representing it are just personally obnoxious.

Get used to there being horrible artists. If music always sounded amazing we wouldnt have anything to talk about and laugh at. Either turn off the radio and put in a CD or Plug your ears.

Sometimes bad music is hard to avoid. Fun events can often play awful music unfortunately, simply because it's popular. But I give Willow Smith props for being 11 and even semi-talented. It's rather impressive considering her age, just like that kid Greyson Chance. I just wish they would allow these kids to grow away from the spotlight a bit more before being thrust into it because people won't remember them when they may actually come out with some really good stuff. I have high hopes for the youth of the world but I also hope that the media doesn't fuck up some possible future geniuses before their time.

Your exactly right! I would never expose my child to Hollywood at such a early age. Look at the past child stars that crashed and burned(Danny bonaduce, Gary Coleman,Dustin Diamond,Todd Bridges). I would push marijuana on my child before i would push Fame(I know that was a bad comparison.lol).

Well everyone knows that mainstream rap is poop. Thats why you have to go on your own hunt for rap/hip-hop. I have been running across alot of great rappers that dont make it to radio(lupe fiasco,A1,Knowledge,Mos def,Mf Doom,etc). If you want good rap/hip-hop you will have to search for it because great hip-hop/rap is a treasure chest buried in the past and certain places in the now. Also WAKA FLOCKA FLAME IS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPEN TO RAP.lol
