I think I'd rather wire up my own box. Doesn't seem like it would be hard. All you really need I think is a momentary switch at the end of a 3.5mm jack'd wire. And a box.

    edit:

    cable + switch + box

About 10 bucks for parts, or less really, since these are all rather common items.

I think I might do this. There's also this, but that isn't all that cool and requires no work (but would probably need a 1/4 inch female to 3.5mm male adapter).

yeah wiring a pedal into your select/back/whatever button would probably be the best solution

So you want me to open the case, and somehow add a parallel circuit and an additional momentary switch to the line that runs to the select button?

I could achieve the same effect more easily by simply plugging a jack directly into the guitar. I'm sure your solution is a good one for guitars on the market that DON'T have the 3.5mm jack input on the side, but my toy guitars do. Are you using a Guitar Hero guitar or something?

So where is my freezepop pack harmonix. Where's my beloved Jonathan Coulton.

You said it would be released today and yet I do not see it.

that port lags a lot, though. I use a Strat but I don't bother using the jack because the back button is easy enough to press and more precise.

              How much does it lag?

              Also, GH5 doesn't entirely suck.

it's basically the same amount of lag you get when tilting

Is it that it that the wiring to the jack is bad and makes it lag or is it that the drum pedal is crap?

Have you tried using something else plugged into that jack? Have you tried every kind of official RB guitar to ensure that it's a universal "problem" for all of them?

And anyway, is precision THAT important? Not to me. Normally I'd be tilting the thing to activate overdrive... I think a button with a little delay is more precise than that.

Plus if you know when you want to activate overdrive you can press in advance.

Precision is important for me not because I'm a master squeezer or anything but because the unpredictability of tilting is just one more thing I have to worry about. I know if I press the back button it's going to activate exactly there, so it's easier to control, plus I don't have to worry about doing it in advance.

This is why I myself would like a pedal. You might be able to hit the back button with ease, but it's a little more difficult for me and I'm likely to screw up trying to maneuver my finger onto that button.

Doing it "in advance" is like a fraction of second in advance though. As long as you're not one of those wacky "squeezers", pushing a pedal "in advance" shouldn't adversely affect your gaming experience.

if you aren't trying to squeeze the **** out of songs on the guitar it honestly doesn't matter whether you tilt it or hit the back button

speaking of guitar i haven't played it much since i bought rock band, but i've been doing alright, i decided to learn how to play right handed and i moved up to expert almost immediately. hard is ****ing easy, expert is ****ing impossible. but i'm hanging in there.

oh btw i made a bunch of drum videos, but the scores aren't very good since my drum pad/pedals are dying. the only one really worth it is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV5igrvZmro
