One of the most annoying thing about the Moonkin's UI is the fact you can't actually see the character very well. Aside from the <Unleashed Rage><Unleashed Rage fades>, he has the Quartz buff/debuff counter right over his character.

I uploaded my guilds first Hodir kill a while ago. My UI is pretty simple and Defaultish.

First kill, so people died shutup. And i got frozen once because i was was sitting on a friend's bed talking to him at the time >_>

What software did you use to record that video, Grandi? I'd like to try something similar for my guild's kills, but all the software I've tried, when combined with WoW, takes up too much processing power for the video to come out smoothly. I can't get any remotely-decent frame rates.

(I'm on a Core 2 Duo E6600, GeForce 7600GT, 4GB RAM system, so you'd think I'd be able to handle this)

I used Fraps, and I went from about 50 fps during hodir (with all graphics maxed) to about 16-20 fps (all maxxed)

          (Nvidia Gforce9800GTS with 1gb DDR3 ram, Centrino 2 duo, 4gb DDR3 ram system)

Basically I just muscle through it.

Well, Fraps is the one well-known video recording software I've never tried, so I'll look into that one and see if I can get it to work. Tomorrow is a for-fun Naxx raid that I can test it out on. Thanks.

edit: Okay question about Fraps. For longer fights, how do you get around the .avi file size limit? Or does Fraps handle that automatically?

I found my Fraps cracked on a torrent. Otherwise you have to pay $. and it has a few neat options for maximizing your fps in game such as not recording sound, setting a fps level for it to record at, and recording at half-size.

I don't know if other programs do that since I really haven't tried any.

Really wish we could get a solid Uld25 run going so I could compare my DPS on Hodir 25, though I doubt it'll be anywhere near that good.

Way to go. That's stellar DPS.

Twitchie and I are usually right next to each other in dps, usually with him in front.

In other news, people have decided not to call me "Sage" or "Sag" like I figured, instead opting to call me "Sega." I'm not complaining, since that's a pretty awesome nickname.

edit: Test boss fight video from Naxx today. Quality and framerate seem to be alright, but I'll have to see how things go on a fight like Hodir or Freya before I can judge if I can reliably record. The sheer amount of stuff going on in those fights will make for a pretty difficult test of my computer's recording ability.

I only run 30-40 fps sadly on most fights, because my motherboard isn't a 2.0 pci-ex 16 slot.

I have a 9800 GTX, quad core and 2.33 (I should OC it to like 2.8 or something, I can do that with air) 4 gigs of RAM.

I don't lag even if I hit 15-20 fps, which is nice, though.

I'm gonna get FRAPS and try it out, I figure it might be a neat way to review tac. It'll mostly involve me pulling aggro on accident and dying and then everyone wiping >_>

You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

                        Re: World of Warcraft

We continued our glorified 25-man pug tonight having left off with Siege done and Kolo/Auriaya dead, all one-shots.

Iron Council was a one-shot. Got three achievements from that (choose you, antechamber, but i'm on your side).

Moved to Hodir. One-shot, even with people who didn't know the fight on 10 or 25. Got the buffed all winter achievement but not the coolest friends. Damn left side didn't free the mage or priest =/

Two hunter/warrior/shaman tokens dropped and I won with a roll of 19. 2nd place was a 9. 56 emblems of conquest, so I'm getting my 4pc when we do FL10 after the reset.

We tried Freya but it's too hard for this kind of a group apparently. Too much failure. "Hey guys, stop DPS on snaplasher. His stack is already at 60. Stop DPS. STOP DPS. OK NOW HE HAS 99 STACKS. STOP DPS. And then he killed us all.

Probably should've read the wowhead comments where it says it's spellstealable but eh. It also works just like crushers on yogg where stopping DPS removes all the stacks. People just fail too much.

PS - I was foolishly hoping I would be able to match or nearly match Relam's DPS on Hodir. Not even close. I do more dps in 10 man than I did tonight. Really annoying.

pps - Super happy about getting the chest too. For some reason, the legs, despite being called a kilt, are not. It's only a kilt if you have the chest too.

The definition of "better" varies for every person.

If you mean the class with the best DPS, it's a Warlock, though not by much. This is the perfect scenario with best in slot gear, mind you. This changes all the time as new patches come out.
If you mean the class with the best raid utility, it's a tie. Food / Portals / Arcane Int versus Summons / Healthstones / Pet buffs. Really, a tie.
If you mean the coolest class, it's Mage by far.
If you mean in PVP, once again, Mage by far.
If you mean questing, it's Mage by far.

                              In other news...

So a guild got Yogg + 0 watchers done when the guilds that had done 1 watcher said it was impossible. Accusations of cheating are already coming out, and certain guilds have stated that there is indeed an exploit in Phase 3 that renders the fight no more than a tank and spank. Details are scarce, since they don't want to say anything until Blizz fixes it.

Edit: Ok, I get the 'sploit now. It's pretty stupid, but I can see how it works. It really does turn phase 3 into a joke. I won't go into details but basically imagine phase 3 without having to worry about adds, ever. What does that make phase 3? No heals, no tanking, just full DPS on Yogg, making sure to turn away during the gaze. That's it.
