I'm not saying calling 911 is stupid. As I've been saying all along, abusing the system is, and I believe this article shows an example of that abuse.

As for operating on pretenses, at least some of us try to minimize the amount we do that.

ok and i was just saying that even in cases when I didn't think there was an emergency and called the regular line, I was told to call 911 anyway. I made no comment on abusing the system. Just wanted to go against all the people posting dumb **** about 911 vs lack of nuggets and the dumb reasons why that wasn't 911 worthy like this post

I don't know how it works in Canada, but in the US there are multiple numbers. 911 is traditionally the emergency police/fire/OH GOD HELP ME line. There are other police lines you can call in the event of something like this. To call 911 three times takes away valuable time that could be used to save lives.

Duder was arguing that calling the FD 911 style was ok cuz having keys locked in a car was more of an emergency than money being stolen/withheld. I merely stated that keys locked in car was an inconvience, not an emergency, so you should probably follow the same thought process of DONT CALL 911 IF YOU DO UR SO DUMB. The only reason this scenario was even brought up because of my anecdotal evidence justifying why the mcnugget lady would most likely have been fine if she only called 911 once.

Also, I was at the accident and none of those things you are mentioning happened at all. It was 1am and it we both pulled into the gas station next to us got out and exchanged info until the police got there to file an official report for insurance BS. We weren't blocking traffic and everyone (the 2 of us) was fine. Know what you're talking about next time you post.

If you lock your keys in the car, it would be advisable to call the Fire Department to see if they are able to come, rather than calling 911 just like what the other guy did. Same should be done if somebody doesn't give you your money back, call the police, but not the emergency line. It is NOT an emergency. However a car accident where even if nobody is hurt is still an emergency because it's blocking traffic, and you can't assume nobody is hurt, it's a car accident and somebody may have spinal injuries nobody notices. There's a whole bunch of factors.
