I made a thread with this chart, but no one here has replied, so maybe I'll try here too.

-This is just too facepalming to take seriously.
        -Unreasonable trills are unreasonable
-Making every arrow a jump is not called layering.
Dude...like..I know you aren't forced to give advice, but yeah, this helps me absolutely nothing. And what unreasonable trills are you talking about? The 8th-8th's?, you should be able to handle those perfectly fine if you've been playing actively over 3 months. At least give me a measure where they are. I might be new to stepping things, but I'm pretty sure it's better than a 0.1/5, that's something you should reserve for songs at the default 60bpm, stepped with only quads on every 16th. The only thing you are right about (sord of) are the jumps, they're on my list of things to do. And wtf is facepalming

See my siggy for my first simfile.

Remember, it's my first simfile so critique all you want. I'm still learning.

Trills: Stuff like at m11, m12, m18, m19. Unreasonable because the music isn't trilling like that, so neither should the steps.

Try going from m9 to m24 with pitch relevancy. Put lower notes on the left and higher notes on the right.
Truthfully, though, I doubt you could make a file I'd like out of this song. Power metal to piano just doesn't work. Plus it's Dragonforce, so yeah.

good advice there, at least I have some clear points to work on right now, I'll spend some time ironing out the worst parts of the sim...

Shadowcliff: I played Oni. It was good for a first simfile, but a couple of things are bothering me here. First of all, you did not utilize consistency in your pitch relevancy and your freeze use. The speed up was actually surprisingly accurate, no problems there. Lastly, the last part after the speed up has a lot of errors rhythmically. There are no gallops. But I enjoyed this enough, keep trying.

Thanks! When I was making this simfile, I didn't know if I should do jumps or gallops. I chose jumps because I already had a section with Gallops in it.
As for pitch relevancy, I don't like to use it much because it kinda limits what patterns you can do (in my understanding of pitch relevancy, anyways). I'll keep it in mind for my next simfile, but I don't know how much I'll use it.

Thanks for the review; keep an eye our for my next sim (it'll be featured in my siggy).

EDIT: After playing my sim once again, I realize that I didn't include gallops at all in my Oni chart...

If you aren't comfortable with pitch relevancy outright, try something that looks like pitch relevancy only with shuffle applied every measure/repeat. IE, repeated pitches and directions get the same notes, then change the columns the next time it happens. That lets you do both at once.

Also, repeating the same pattern isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Hi. I attempted to make a file to a piece of a music I once randomly wrote (thinking of making a much longer version though). It's very short, and my first file. There aren't any holds or special things like that, just very simple.

If anyone wants to try it: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...p?songid=28889

For some reason Resonance doesn't have the music in it working [yet] but just the steps, but you can download it and the music works in SM. =P

I uploaded my steps to Mountain's "Mississippi Queen" for Stepmania. The steps are played to the lead guitar parts (as most of my "rock" files are) and is only avaible in singles and Heavy/Hard mode. The difficulty scale would be an average 9/10 (DDR style). Should you notice any problems (i.e. BPM, out-of-sync and the like) just notify me. Please send feedback and test as soon as possible, enjoy! BTW, sorry that there's no banner or background for this song...

The lengendary metal-band "Dethklok" now has a song avaible for Stepmania. The song: Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle. The only difficulty is "Hard/Heavy" and you play the steps to the lead guitar part. The only challenging part of the song is Skwisgaar's solo (hard by default!). If you notice any problems, please notify me. Play-test this song and send feedback as soon as possible! Again, there is no banner or background, sorry!

I was lazy and played on resonance so I won't comment on the sync. (It's easy to check the sync yourself: Play through parts of the song on a low rate and it's obvious if things aren't lining up. If it's not, turn assist tick on.) Listening to the song however, there should have been no stand-alone yellows, but I noticed one or two in the later half.
My main problems with this chart are:
                                1. It's basically the expert chart from guitar hero 3 only mangled around. This isn't guitar hero, be innovative. Step the drums too, step the vocals too.
                                2. When you're stepping the guitar with the jumps ala guitar hero 3's expert chart you can't seem to decide how to arrange them. They should all be ABBBB but you change it seemingly randomly; keep it consistent.
Also, no step flow. You use patterns that would lead to cross-overs or double stepped if played on a pad as often as you don't. It's awkward, try not to.

"Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle" Stepfile URL:

                                Again, resonance-played.
Difficulty level is extremely disproportionate. If you're going to throw in those huge 32nd bursts, make the rest of the file similarly difficult to match; layer, jumpstream, work in the drums, whatever. Again, this is not guitar hero on expert mode, you do not have to step the lead guitar exactly as it is in the song and do nothing else.
