      - Ensure you have 2 or more seconds of silence in the beginning of your music file

does that mean 2 seconds you cant hear sound or 2 seconds of no beats coming? cus i cant afford the sound thingy to make it have 2 seconds of no music D=

No notes in the first 2 seconds. If you plan to have notes playing in the beginning of your song, edit the song by putting 2 seconds of silence in the beginning (Therefore the first sound will be 2 seconds into the song, so you won't have to cut off any beats).

Pay attention. Stickies are aloud to be bumped.

Plus, useful info was added to the thread, so it was an acceptable bump as well.

Well, they are allowed but not encouraged. They are only to be used if they are absolutely necessary.

There are free, open source audio editors out there (like Audacity; http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). It might be helpful to recommend this program in addition to Soundforge in this already very thorough, very helpful guide.

                          One-hander that does alright sometimes.

Are you one of the best one-handers on FFR? Show it here.

I'm on vista and I can't seem to save the .sm file. It opens into notepad then I paste in the data but it won't save... you say vista is a pain right; so there's a way around this?

i think you just have to take it out of program files before you save any changes to it. there's probably a way to force vista to let you save changes to files in program files but then you would be Exposed to Ver Dangerous Viruses...

also, why do you even need to change the .sm manually in the first place?
