Re: The Wii is Here.
Pssh.
If you dedicate your money to too many things, you won't have enough to buy things you really want.
I focus the money I get from work into games. Only games. If there are no games, it goes in my bank. But mainly games.
I've dropped $250 on pre-orders for 5 Wii games for Christmas. One of them ended up getting pushed to 2008. Sad. I already had 3 pre-orders for 2008 games too (Mario Kart, No More Heroes, Tales of Symphonia 2).
So far, one has shown up. Guitar Hero III. At this point, if you haven't been reading this thread extensively, you might wonder something. I said 5 games at $250. That's normal for Wii games. One of them is Guitar Hero III and one of them is Zack and Wiki. AKA, one was $90 and one was $40. Hmm.
Online retailers are the best.
ps - Guitar Hero III is best on the Wii. It may not be as shiny as the 360 / PS3 versions, but the guitar rumbles when you get star power and while using star power. You also hear sour notes via the Wiimote speaker. Also, the PS3 version has lag issues and a stupid dongle required to play wirelessly.Last edited by Squeek; 10-30-2007, 02:49 PM.Comment

Re: The Wii is Here.
videogames are not everything in the world you know....
but i only use my money in anime and videogame stuff because right now i don't have to pay for food or anything else XD.
well if i had to select between guitar hero and zack and wiki? well zack and wiki is my selection for me is a very good game and i had to buy it because i might not have enough time to finish it and my family wanted to play it too (besides i just had to pay 20$ my parents did the rest).
and was there any doubt? always the wii version of any game it's better than his other parts (harry potter being the best example)Comment

Re: The Wii is Here.
No, but they're my favorite hobby.
Hobbyists always spend a lot of money in their hobbies. That's why I say to stick to one primarily.
Put it this way. Say you like fishing. Your hobby would be fishing.
If it were your only hobby, you could dedicate your time and money to nice gear, good fishing spots, long days spent on a lake, etc. If it were not your only hobby, you would only be able to do it sporadically with less-than-nice gear in crowded fishing spots.
Since I dedicate my hobby to games, I can spend some of my paychecks on them. Don't get me wrong, I don't throw money down whenever I see the chance. I just don't hold back when I see something I really want. I've only spent about $400 on Wii games in 2007. That's a paycheck or two right there.Comment

Re: The Wii is Here.
Hey guys, how about my Wii just overheated and shutdown on me. I figured that the problem is Wiiconnect24 because it lets the Wii stay on partially but heats it up so damn much. Then I had to go to Gamestop to spend $10 on a cooling fan that is loud as crap. But at least I won't have to worry as much.My Wii Number is :1400 3149 4401 2038 add me.

Re: The Wii is Here.
I've never heard of someone's Wii actually overheating.
Whatever caused it to overheat is going to happen again with or without the fake attachment. Confined space? On its side? Both? They can cause it. But like I said, the system will feel hot but nothing will happen.
The console uses less electricity than a light bulb. I don't see how it can overheat.Comment

Re: The Wii is Here.
The fan on the back of the Wii stopped working while I was playing Smash Brothers Melee then it all of a sudden just shut off leaving me clueless. Now I have to ship it to Nintendo for repair so that at least I can at least sit in the Wii menu with out it burning up like a thanksgiving turkey.I've never heard of someone's Wii actually overheating.

Re: The Wii is Here.
Squeek, I don't know whether your serious or just ignorantly biased. There's been reports where the Wii overheats during standby and damaging the GPU. It happens without the fans being blocked, and the fact that it only happens during standby makes that a non-issue. Do a quick search on Google. It's a known issue.I've never heard of someone's Wii actually overheating.

Re: The Wii is Here.
It has never made news on any gaming blog site I frequent. Not once.
These same blogs report every problem that occurs with the PS3 and 360, no matter how minor it is, to make sure their readers know about them in advance.Comment

Re: The Wii is Here.
The reason why is because I thought the fan would be quiet as the built in one but the fan is too damn loud when in use and I don't wanna hear it while the Wii is off and Wiiconnect24 is on. Plus it takes up both of the USB ports on the back of the console and only leaves one open on its side so that's why I'm sending it off so I won't have to hear this thing sound like a vacuum everytime I turn it on.My Wii Number is :1400 3149 4401 2038 add me.

Re: The Wii is Here.
Then you missed it, because I'm sure it had to appear on Kotaku at some point. I pretty positive that that's where I first got the news.

Re: The Wii is Here.
I have an idea!
Turn the console off when you're not using it.
Appliances shouldn't have standby modes. It's stupid. Disable it. There's so little reason to leave the console on and so many reasons why turning it off is a good idea.
Heck, I just can't stand to see the red light on when I'm not using it, so I unplug it when I'm done.
