Also, purpose = "point" of life (not just humanity) = to efficiently reduce Earth's thermal gradient.

I'm not entirely certain I understand where you're going with your posts, devonin, so if you could please clarify I hope to be able to answer your questions better.
I asked you how it was a greater cause that you were put here to serve and you said "I exist because of its grace." My response was intending to say "To me that implies that it is the -reason- you exist in the sense of 'How I came to be' in the way that people would usually say that the -reason- I exist is that my mother gave birth to me.

And I was asserting that there is a difference between the -reason- you exist and the -purpose- for which you exist.

I think every human being on this planet is as confused as you are, but we can speculate. There are a few common perspectives on life...

      1) There is no point. We're simply here.

      2) The scientific perspective, to reproduce and to survive, nothing else.

      3) An optimists view, to make the world a better place for everyone to live in.

      4) A pessimistic view, to rot away slowly as soon as we're born.

      5) A religious view, to follow God. (I'm not religious myself.)

      6) To do what you enjoy, and get whatever you can out of your time here.

Generally, everyone falls into one of these categories, more or less, and to differing extremes. I've tossed the "meaning of life" question around in my head for quite some time, and have ventured into each of the categories (spare religion) at least once. In the end, I've actually decided it's best not to think about the question... it drives you insane. This is simply because there is no one, set answer to rule over all humans. The meaning of life is whatever you choose for it to be, and I leave it at that to keep my sanity.

Oh, okay, I see what you're saying now.

And I was asserting that there is a difference between the -reason- you exist and the -purpose- for which you exist.
I think my confusion came about because I see the Second Law as BOTH the reason I exist AND the purpose for which I exist. As such, I neglected to divorce the two ideas.
