Meh, I don't really know what I was talking about either. I don't promote suicide or prostitution and I don't think they should be legal.

Well, if someone kills themselfs its not like they're can get in trouble by the law for it. Theres nothing you can really do about something like that...

Well, they might get in trouble if they try to do it and fail.

It's important that a sex ed program teaches ALL the facts. For the most part, whatever a sex ed program fails to cover, a student will probably find out anyway from friends or some other source.

And when the student figures out that the school is holding out on him or her, then the student will feel as if he or she is better than the program. Then, the student will be emboldened to just do whatever (or whoever... eeww).

Do you really think the best thing to do to someone who is sad enough to try to END THEIR LIFE is to punish them?

Don't you think the more likely result of punishment is that they will become even more depressed and try to do it again?

It's the only logical result. Suicidals need HELP, not jailtime.

This must not become legal. Prostitution is like killing yourself but with a long torture. If it became legal we human are making one more step closer to stupidity.

All of our PE teachers were guys this year and apparrently when one of them did sex ed with one of his girl blocks, he turned bright red the moment he said penis. So he hired a male sub to do it.

As with sex ed, I no longer learn anything there. The only nice thing about it is laughing at the ond seventies movies that our teachers show.

Re: Sex ed. in schools

WOOOH! My turn!

Sex ed is lame, it should be up to the parents to teach their kids about sex.

Unfortunately, the world doesn't work nearly the way it should. Instead, we have a highly impersonal lesson from a person we only see in an environment we can't wait to get out of, with 30 other people, who we aren't comfortable asking questions to/in front of.
(Run-on much?)

That's why, as soon as I could, I personally turned to the internet. (not pr0n)

Let's give you all, "Cow's Mom's Sex Talk"
(My dad wasn't around at the "proper age".)

So here it is;
"If you get someone pregnant, I'll take care of the baby until you're out of school, and then it's all yours, and you WILL be taking care of it!"

Dad's talk (when I moved in with him)
"Just don't do it."

and the school's version was;
"Watch this video, no talking, no reading, just pay attention"
*teacher pops in video made in the 70's with people saying hair-as-mant and talking about meeting a girl at the disco club*
"ok, go to lunch now"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gee, I wonder why I was a confused little boy until I was like 15 -.-
The real issue that should be discussed is, "Why is society (at least american anyway) so uptight, and at the same time so open, about sex?
Ex: Music, TV, and Movies have an incredible amount of sexual content, (not to mention the internet) yet most american children can't get a straight, informative answer out of their parents. (At least, not without an impressive amount of embarrassment.)
Oh, and my last thing here....:
The sex ed teacher at my highschool this year decided to be an idiot about the "Anonymous Question Box". The following is a re-enactment of the stupidity.
"Okay, let's see what question is next."
*Reaches into the box and pulls out an index card*
[My Girlfriend and I had dry sex about 5 months ago, and now she's pregnant.
Is it possible to get pregnant from dry sex, or did she cheat on me? We have never had actual sex.]
"Well, YES it is possible to get pregnant from dry sex, so it probably is your baby."
~~~~~~~~
I kid you not, she actually said, "It IS POSSIBLE to get pregnant from DRY SEX".

Stupid people spread stupidity like street hookers spread their legs.

The fact that most people get two faced when you bring that up is hilarious. The government doesn't let you sell your vital organs just because you want to, why should they let you do other random stuff to your body..

PS I never got the talk, yet somehow I know more about sex than anybody else in my grade... I'm a wealth of sexual knowledge... but the sex-ed program in our school did absolutely nothing... I was in the back of the class loudly disagreeing with the stupid movies and actually giving evidence and sources of my arguments... Let us just say that the teacher got very annoyed.
Ok, look, It's your right to do with your body as you wish.
HOWEVER! you should (must) consider how what you do with your body affects the people around you.

For instance: Prostitution.
Prostitution is bad merely from a health standpoint, as prostitutes don't demand that you get tested before you sleep with them, and I highly doubt that you make the prostitute get tested. Therefore, Prostitution=Bad, as one prostitute can infect hundreds of horny, lonely men.

Suicide: Bad
When you kill yourself, it affects everyone you're close too, because you've taken away YOU from them. 'Nuff said.

Basically, the examples you've used are bad merely if you use common sense, and don't need any other reason.

If everyone went through life more concerned with how what they did affected the people around them, the world would be a better place.

And sex ed has always been a waste of time, since adults seem to be uncomfortable talking to kids about anything serious, and kids are uncomfortable talking to adults about anything serious.

Personally, I think there should be a website with anonymous posting, and live anonymous chat about Sexual Questions that is posted in the Health/Phy Ed rooms in every school, so that kids can get the answers they need whenever they need them. (Hell, I might go make it if anyone else thinks its a good idea.)

Or parents need to suck it up and be there for their kids, but that wont happen. (At least, not 100% of the time.)

This is -why- the argument for making prostitution legal is such a good one. When prostitution is going on in shady back alleys, you're correct about the testing and health issues. Were prostitution legal, it would come under government scrutiny, and the government could require permits to operate brothels, and institute mandatory testing for STDs.
