If you're a stupid clutz, don't get the Wii.

Otherwise you'll end up on this site: http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com

and me laughing at you. x)

Otherwise, the Wii is a great console. Not the best games, but you get to have the classics if you download.

    <3 Wii.

Oh, and those Wii pics are cute. x) I was gonna make one like that, and one for PS3, though I dun like ps3.

      It's not because they're clutzes. It's because they're idiots.

The games with heavy motion sensing mention SEVERAL TIMES that the strap should be on and secured, not to let go of the controller, and to watch out for things around you.

        Hence the -stupid- part. =]

And that strap, is very thin. x_X;;; but most people don't use it.

I don't need it, but to those who easily get into the game, may need to. Bad grip = broken whatever, and it can be your TV. >.>

The strap isn't too thin. I've whipped that thing around like it's a yo-yo and it's never snapped.

          In other news: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/13/ni...d-online-play/

Basically says that third party development for online services is a go.

Edit: Ok, I think my Wii has serious problems now. I've just extended my warranty another 90 days and I'll be writing them a letter sometime in the near future.

WarioWare takes ages to load sometimes and Elebits does not load at all anymore. One of my controllers has loose buttons and something rattles inside when vibration goes off in the other.

          Freakin' launch day systems =/

I've heard that from a couple of people now. I'm sure you've already tried this, but have you cleaned the disks, or checked inside where you put the disks for dust build up or anything else?

As for me, mine still works fine. But I guess I should try to extend my warranty just in case.

As far as I know, there's no way to check inside the console for dust without opening it. The disc slot has a small rubber cover that makes looking inside very difficult. But... the purpose of that cover is to make sure dust doesn't get inside the console in the first place!

I'll just write a letter. These aren't the only problems I've been having.

                Re: The Wii is Here.

Odd problems, Squeek. Not far off from the problems I've had. Some stuff, like the Everybody Votes Channel, takes an ungodly amount of time to load. It's sporadic, though. And if something isn't loading, simply pressing A solves the problem.

For the love of God, Squeek, do not write a letter. Call customer service. Nintendo has the best phone support team I have ever interacted with ever. Five stars, no question.

                  Re: The Wii is Here.

Well, when I say letter, I mean e-mail.

I have most of it written up too =/

                  Dear Nintendo Customer Service Representative:

First of all, I would like to thank Nintendo for many years of enjoyable gaming experiences. I was very excited to purchase a Wii as soon as it was available and so I set out to get a console on the day of launch: November 19, 2006.

I hadn’t had any major problems with the console along the way. At times the console would have strange issues, most of which happened on the menus outside of games, but they were self-resolved quickly. Only once had a game frozen during gameplay.

I do not know if these errors were related, but recently the problems have been much more severe. For example, when loading WarioWare: Smooth Moves, the disc would sometimes spin in the console for several seconds, and sometimes for several minutes before loading the splash screen for the controller strap warning. The amount of time it takes to load is quite random.

More recently than that, however, is a much more severe problem. Whenever I put in the game “Elebits” from Konami, the controller strap splash screen comes up, the Konami logo comes up, then a message about saving data. Immediately following that, the screen fades to white and stays there. I left it there for roughly fifteen minutes with the disc spinning inside. The controller was unresponsive at that time, but still showing up as first player. I then ejected the disc and re-inserted it, but that did not work either. I had to hold the power button down in order to shut the console down. I tried several times but to no avail. I also cleaned the disc as best I could a few times, but again, no success. The disc has no scratches or flaws that I can see.

As a result of this, the console’s functions seem to have been severely altered. Previously, pressing the eject button would simply eject the disc, then power the console down. Now the console goes to the menu screen as if I had pressed the power button. This seems to be a case of “one thing leads to another” to a pretty large degree.

The strangest part is that this only seems to happen on a few games. I don’t know what is in the game that would cause these kinds of problems, but in any case, here’s a handy list in the order I bought them.

                  1) Wii Sports: Has no problems. Frozen once, but never again.
                  2) Red Steel: Has no problems.
                  3) Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz: Has no problems.
                  4) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Has no problems.
                  5) Trauma Center: Second Opinion: Has no problems.
                  6) Elebits: No longer loads.
                  7) WarioWare: Smooth Moves: Sometimes loads quickly, sometimes loads slowly.
Edit: Another RPG confirmed for Wii.

Apparently it is played only with the nunchuck. I don't get it either.

Squeek, the eject button never powered down the system for me. I think you'll get a better response from a phone call too, honestly.

Really? For mine, whenever I hit Eject from the console when it was off, it would eject the disc, then turn off. Whenever I put a disc into the console when it was off, it would take it and turn itself on.

Edit: LOTS of Super Paper Mario footage. I really, really want this.

                        Re: The Wii is Here.

Wait, what do you mean by "turn off"? I have WiiConnect24 enabled. If the system was off (meaning no controller input possible), I could eject the disc, and nothing would change. However, putting a disc in would cause the system to turn on. I never tried ejecting a disc while playing a game in the Game Channel, but if I removed a disc while the system was on, in the Wii Menu, the system would eject the disc but remain at the Wii Menu.

                          Re: The Wii is Here.

In your case with Standby on, it means pressing the eject buttons would cause the light to turn green, eject the disc, then turn back to yellow. The screen with the Health and Safety warning would never show up at all.

I have Standby off, so it's the same concept with red instead of yellow.

I have been having freezing problems with the trial internet channel. It could be a bug of trial program, but it could be something serious. can't take my chances with my beloved Wii. Also I rented redsteel and I played it for a few days and then it started lagging A LOT one day. I'm pretty sure the next day it was fine, though.

And, on the sonic and the secret rings note, I rented it a couple weeks ago. I thought it was horrible. First of all, the controls are unresponsive, and you practically have to turn the wiimote up-side-down to go backwards. The story is pretty lame. It failed to grab my attention at all. AND THE CUT SCENES WERE PHOTOS IN A BOOK! NO ANIMATION AT ALL IN THE CUT SCENES! The rest of the game was good, but the unresponsive controls and bad story and cutscenes really took away from the experience. I was very disappointed. I believe that game is horrible and should be bought by no-one!!!
