The genre itself is no different than any other medium, there are well produced hentai movies and series, and crappy ones. However, due to the nature of the pornographic content there is a stigma surrounding the genre, especially in the West with it's puritan roots. I believe it is a genre that is grossly misunderstood.

Cartoons and comics are typically viewed as being childish. Therefore, it is really unsettling that someone would use such a medium for pornographic material. There is also a stigma surrounding those who watch hentai. They are considered weird or sexual deviants, and rightly so seeing as many of them are, but some people get a kick out of it and who am I to judge?

Also, is it sick to become sexual aroused by a cartoon character? I don't think so. While one is aware they are watching a cartoon, the brain still registers the characters as being human. Our brains are conditioned to see human faces, that is why people see Jesus in their toast, or something as simple as makes a smiley face. You eyes transmit the information to the brain which then interprets it as being:
"Alright, you've got a piece of toast and you burned it, you are disappointed, next time we'll toast it for less time. Hmm, that burn looks like a face, a familiar face, with similar characteristics of your lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Alright, I've pieced it all together and I've come to the conclusion that this is divine intervention, rejoice. You know what we should do with this? Sell this one eBay."

People who look down on the users who watch hentai should be shot. Life is short and why the hell shouldn't we be able to do what we want to make ourselves happy in life. You are NOT a saint. And I'm almost positive a priest would not be looking at an ffr thread. Hentai is just a way to express fantasy situations because of the neat quality of *some* of it. I also agree with Squeek because hentai is everywhere, online, some tv if your willing to pay, and in some books. Its a love for what we are missing out on in life.

Personally, I love hentai, and don't really care what scrap of writing or voice tells me it should be wrong.

Actually, there are many studies showing that people who fantasize often lead more active sex lives.

So, people who are more interested in hentai (or sexual aids and fantasies in general) are more likely, by correlation, to "get some in real life". And those less interested in sexual aids and fantasies are less likely.

This says nothing about hentai specifically, but I think it clearly shows that they do not watch it because they "can't get any".

It all depends on the situation, genre, and the level of unorthodoxy.

I have seen awesome furry fox tentacle secksors that was almost a complete turn-on (though I would think the lot of you will find that nasty...>>.

I would have to disagree with the "can't get any" theory. I mean, it's not like you are having secks 24/7, and that you may feel the urge to use Hentai (or any other pron media) to stimulate yourself if there is no other significant figure is around.

Admitting that you are watching Hentai/pron because "You can't get any" is a different story, and may rather be a lawl moment.

Things like this just get our temptations by in life; better watching/fapping to Hentai/pron than having real secks and making babies, getting STD's, etc.
