    Re: The Wii is Here.

    It works like this.

If you get 3 strikes in a row then your 1st strike is worth 30 points.

If you get a strike, a spare and a 2 then you get 22 for the strike and then 12 points for your spare. got it?

I did do that right, right?

It's quite simple really. That's how you play.

I got it up until the part I highlighted bold. I found that part confusing. I thought you got +10 you your score not 22.

It really is a play to understand experience.

Once you try it, you'll never willingly go back to controllers ever again, or that is just how I feel about it.

              Re: The Wii is Here.

              So uh.

              I kinda finished two chapters on Trauma Center already and I still don't own the game ;_;

The game is amazing--plain and simple. When I first told my mom about it (yeah, I'm actually talking to my parents about video games again!) she was like "what, you want to be a doctor?" I just kinda did a PicardSigh and explained further. She pretty much alluded to "I'll have to see it to understand."

But whenever I go to my friend's house, he has it, so I play it. I try not to play a lot because I want to play it when I own it. I've done up to Mission 3-2.

The game works really, really well. The controls are just solid. One of the best applications of the controller, if not losing that title to Elebits. Instead of the DS version where you select tools by tapping the sides, the nunchuk is your selector, with each of the eight tools bound to a direction (left = scalpel, upleft = forceps, etc). This means you can switch between tools instantaneously. I still haven't memorized where they all are so I glance at the corner just to make sure I get the right tool.

Here's what I like best. Most operations I've seen so far are "We'll help you with the first one, and once you do it, you do one alone, then two, then we go crazy on you". The nurse tells you what to do step-by-step and then you memorize it and do it a bunch of times. Then you have to memorize that procedure for future operations.

I can't even believe I memorized some of the surgeries. They had about six or seven steps to handle. Like drain, cut (stab), remove, laser, apply gel, suture. Some of the more complicated surgeries are just insane.

Fun game though. Never failed a mission.

                Re: The Wii is Here.

                I'm mad.

On the phone to Walmart at 3:00pm:

me: hi, are there any wii's in stock?
                walmart: no
me: when will the next shipment be?
walmart: we dont know. No time before christmas. mid jan.
                me: ok, bye

Later I find out my dad is going to walmart. I go with him.

At about 7:00, I go to video games and say: are there any wiis?
store guy: yeah, we just had a shipment a few hours ago. but they sold out quick
                me: oh.

So does anyone know how often walmart is getting these shipments?

                  Re: The Wii is Here.

There's no telling when shipments are. None.

Toys 'R Us is supposed to be the only store getting anymore before Christmas.

                  Good luck.

Seth, Strikes are just 10 (since you just knocked down ten) + your next two shots. If you get a strike followed by a 1 and 2, it's 13. If you get a strike followed by a 10 and a 2, it's 22. Just add up all three shots.

Vash's statement is wrong though, since you cannot get a Spare in one shot. If you get a strike followed by a spare, it's 20 points added into the frame with the strike (10 on the strike and 10 for the spare), but your Spare score is still unfinished. It would be 10 plus whatever the next shot is. If it's a strike, it'd be 10+10 again.

Perfect game is all strikes, obviously. Here's how the scoring would work.

                  Frame 1: 10 + next two
Frame 2: 10 + next two, previous frame is 20 + next one.
                  Frame 3: 10 + next two, pre-previous frame is 30, previous frame is 20

                  Continue the pattern. Each frame is 30 points. 30 * 10 = 300, a perfect game.

That might help. It's also proof of someone getting a perfect game in Wii Bowling. It is a little counter-intuitive (to me at least) since the math makes it 330. It's 300 though.

It's so close to Christmas that shipments for everything come in like crazy. You can't expect a manager, much less an employee, to know when everything is coming in, what's coming in, etc. I'm guessing that these shipments are staggered out and going everywhere, no matter what anyone tells you. This time of year, you need to get lucky.

No, it's not. The 10th frame is ONE frame. Only reason they add onto each other in the other frames is because they are separate frames. And why'd you say 10 for your examples? That could mean a spare. :P

Seth: Strikes (X) count the next 2 throws onto it. Spares (/) count the next 1 throw onto it. The only situation where it's different is in the final (10th) frame. Dashes will represent 0. Spaces will represent a separate frame, okay?

                          X 9/ 9- X X 81 6/ -2 X XX8

                          First frame, X: 10 + next two throws (9 and 1) = 20
                          Second frame, 9/: 10 + next throw (9) = 19
                          Third frame, 9-: 9+0 = 9
                          Fourth frame, X: 10 + next two throws (10 and 8) = 28
                          Fifth frame, X: 10 + next two throws (8 and 1) = 19
                          Sixth frame, 81: 8+1 = 9
                          Seventh frame, 6/: 10 + next throw (0) = 10
                          Eighth frame, -2: 0+2 = 2
                          Ninth frame, X: 10 + next 2 throws (10 and 10) = 30
                          Tenth frame, XX8: 10+10+8 = 28

                          Total: 174

Tenth frame is different because it's 3 throws instead of 2 if you get a spare in the first 2 throws or a strike in the first throw. If you get a strike, you continue on and have a new set of pins. If you get another strike, you get a third set of new pins. If you don't, you continue where you left off (i.e., trying to pick up a spare). Strikes and spares in this frame do not add onto each other. But if you notice, they do add onto the previous frames if applicable. The reason this is because the 10th frame is just one frame but the throws in it are still considered separate throws (apart from the ones in the frame in relation to each other, because it's the same frame).

                          Get it?

I think of it this way a lot... A strike on top of a strike gains a frame. Pins on top of a spare keep it the same. Open frames (ones without a strike or a spare) lose a frame. Get it? Or if you like golf: strike+strike+pins = birdie, spare+pins = par, open frame = bogie.

X X -8 is what I call wasting the strike. You only get 20 for the first one (10+10+0). It's the same as if I got a X 6/ 8-.

                          9/ -4 is what I call wasting a spare. The first is only a 10 (10+0).

Open frames, wasting opportunities, and not at least doubling up a few strikes can lead to a low game.

Zelda games aren't meant to be hard. Just fun.

And fun they are. I've officially 100% completed Zelda with all known knowledge of the game. SO THERE.

I caught every fish and bug with all lures possible, got all the heart pieces, got all the poes, got all the upgrades and extra containers for everything, and beat the cave of ordeals.

IT'S OVER. That 60th poe was a jerk. Spent about an hour solely looking for that sucker. Had a list to go off of, but had no idea which one was the last one.

And I've beaten the second boss of Elebits. There are probably five or six total. Amazingly awesome game. Amazing amazing amazing.

Edit PS - There's a rumor that Madden Wii uses the Forecast Channel to get its weather data in correlation to the stadium you're playing the game in at the time you play it.

                              If it's true, THAT'S AWESOME.

I love ripping poe's souls out. I took 20 back to the guy and he gave me some lovely Fairy Tears but then he turned round and said, "hey you know what would be cool, if you could find all of them for me. Only 34 or so more, cheers". Im at the stage now where I just have to go somewhere to complete the game. Im just going to play all the minigames and stuff agian. I won't bother with the bugs yet. I will 100% the game next time I play it. I think I have enough hearts anyway, got 17 I think.
