So they claim. There was a lawsuit, and I believe Konami won that. Both appeared in 1998, though.

well, I think is should. If its a sport in norway, it should be here. If we can make it more popular. Anyways, i think the bigger company with get the crown to be an OFFICIAL sport. I think it would be good, I would like to see people in competition, but on national televison. It would be so cool.

      P.S: I'm half japanese.

Personally i agree on the idea that DDR is a sport main;y due to the fact that danceing is considered a sport and DDR is dancing!

          Moogy is correct.

Machine dance (DDR) was registered as a sport code in Norway on April 2004.

Pump It Up was founded in Korea and Pump It Up: The 1st dance floor was released on August 1999. There arguement was that their test versions in 1998 were considered to be the first dance game when in fact DDR's test version came before PIU's tests.

Dance Dance Revolution was founded in Japan and Dance Dance Revolution (1st mix) was released on November 21, 1998.

The first game to use a dance pad was Dance Aerobics for the NES in 1988.

          Capeesh ?
Oh hay I used to play ITG

                  Re: DDR, a sport?

It's now dancing, but it's a hell of a lot more exercise than most sports.

I think that it should be a sport, but maybe shouldn't be televised. Also, not quite sure what the issue would be with DDR and ITG.
