Find a stream song that's just slow enough for you to get the hang of, then speed it up.

I started learning streams with delirium and CIA Rave back when.
Edit: That "focus on the up key" actually kind of makes sense. I just read patterns that are blocked together. Strangeprogram's 1324 and 4231 stream still fucks with me though. I have a hard time recognizing it; I suppose it also happens in flight of the bee too.

Just wait, a few songs you might play (especially on Stepmania) contain 48th [1324] patterns!

Any of the ascending/descending streams are simple, as you progress into higher difficulty songs you'll see them a lot more.

Also, bursts seem to be that same pattern but way faster.
