I have several solutions for people who say they are too light for DDR

    1) Get better pads
    2) Eat more, weigh more, just don't be a fat kid :P Weighing more helps in the long run, as it generally is muscle.
    3) If you can't, or choose not to do one of the 2 above... Don't play DDR till you're 14 or 15 :P

not counting oni exclusives (PSMO), MaxX is 3rd or 2nd hardest, behind LOM and possibly PSM.

Learn the rythm of the step-freeze step-freeze section at the start. I found that when i learnt that, i breezed through it.

i know but even with bar raping the farthest i've ever gotten is a little over halfway, like to the beginning of the insane jumps.

The first jump pattern is only like, 1/4th or 1/5th of the way into the song X_X

But really, once you learn the assist tick, the song shouldn't be that hard unless you either don't have the stamina or don't have the leg speed.

Also, if you're used to speed modding, tone it down for a while... Since you're probably not using speed mods on MaxX (Well, at least, not for now)... I stopped using speed mods to train for Max300 (I could already read at around 500bpm, I figured that was good enough =p ), and that helped a hell of a lot... Went from dying on the second run to dying around the middle freezes...

Ok, if you're having trouble as soon as it starts with the jumps, play MaxX on Standard. The middle-end of the song is nothing but jumps. If you can easily get through that then Heavy shouldn't be a problem. Also, go to DDRFreak.com and look at the step chart while listening to the music. It'll get the patterns ingraved in your head. While this doesn't sound like it helps, most of the game for DDR when you reach the really hard heavy songs is knowing what to do and when... what's coming up next, when to turn, etc etc. Either that or get StepMania.

And I have to disagree about LoM or PSM being the hardest song. LoM really isn't that hard... it's only the speed, not the arrangment of steps. I call it Drop Out on crack. PSM is the same as PS but 20 bpm faster and the steps are re-arranged. As far as I'm concerned, the arrangement of steps for PSM is easier than that of PS. The hardest song is between So Deep, Max300 or MaxX. So Deep because it's chaotic, and a lot of people can't handle those kinds of gallops and not in that number, 300 because it's pure, and sometimes intense, stream, and X because, in a way, it's chaotic. For a song that's 320 bpm, the steps are somewhat chaotic.

Paradox - You're PAINFULLY forgetting PSM on oni difficulty, which is MUCH more than paranoia survivor with mirror on (BTW, that's basically the way the steps got re-arranged, except they added some new ones due to different sound patters being in the song)...

I can see what you say about LoM not being as hard as MaxX though... If I remember correctly, someone's gotten one great on LoM, while the closest anybody's gotten on MaxX is one miss... (And LoM is full-comboed much more often, while most AA's on MaxX invlove most/all perfects except for several misses)

So deep being one of the hardest songs in the game? What the fuck? It's not that hard once you learn the assist tick... I mean, I'd say more people fail So Deep on thier first try than, say, Matsuri Japan, but I'd also say that Matsuri Japan is a lot harder to PA on...

You're right, I did forget that Survivor Max had an Oni to it... I haven't played the Oni version, though, so I'll try that next time I hit the arcade.

I can virtually AA So Deep every time, but let's break it down... look at it. First time you see it or play it, it's very mentally intimidating. Not only that, but there isn't a single other song that's comprised of only gallops, which, I'm afraid to say, are hard for most people to do. I've seen lots of people playing Cow Girl to learn the gallops, which is really irritating.

Also, it goes the same saying that it's easy to learn every song as soon as you learn the assist tick. Most other songs follow an 8th-note format, at least most of the hard songs do, especially Max300. It's all 8th notes. What makes it hard is the speed, and that's it.

yea i failed so deep the first time i played it, but now after about five times, i can pass it pretty easily. i cant pass any max songs though, i just run out of endurance and stamina. so deep is definitely much easier

I beat so So Deep, first time 3x. Then I got worse and worse.
