Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
I want to go against the current here and mention that the Velocity Engine doesn't suddenly eat up 50% or more CPU out of nowhere when it was working fine in the 6th Official.
The one used for my Tournaments uses 20% max, usually only uses around 10%. 20% is when there's the chance of weird lag blips. 50% risks a dropped framerate and note jumping, making play basically undoable. This is why I ask if there's a backup of the Velocity Engine with the Tournament Genre used back in the 6th Official.Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 07-26-2012, 01:29 AM.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
So, for a last ditch effort I'm going to upload a Velocity Engine build from Jan 29th 2011, it's one of oldest engines I have in backup.

If that lags, then it's a flash issue, I've run out of things to cross out off my list.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
well, it's visually better, at least. Input lag doesn't look too much different though.

Still the same lag. Standalone problem. So, for a last ditch effort I'm going to upload a Velocity Engine build from Jan 29th 2011, it's one of oldest engines I have in backup.

Runs pretty smooth on browser tho, minus the fact it crashed mid-song.Comment

[2:03:11 AM] Jσnαthαn | Vєlσcítч: so it really is a flash bug
Nice try though. I'm going to just temporarily reside in the Legacy den in the meanwhile.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
I'm starting to think the lag is a bug in flash itself just from the sheer volume of loaded data from the playlist, which is over 18k items.
I'll try a engine that just loads in the tournament songs and see if that changes anything.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
That still doesnt seem to make sense seeing as it only affects a very vocal minority.
If it is a flash bug should it not affect all people using that engine on the specific standalone versions (being 11 / 10 / 9)Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm suddenly not able to change my key setup in the velo engine (the normal one, not the '11 one), it's identical to how r^2 is, it says to press a key, but then nothing happens when I do.

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
It all depends on computer specs, Flash only allocates a percentage of ram, so it'll differ per computer. When I play FFR I don't receive any lag at all, but I also have a gaming computer.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
So if I understand correctly it is a computer issue that is onset if a certain amount of percentage of memory is allocated to flash...
In which you could either a) recode and rework the engine to not cause this issue which is a pain in the ass
b) tell people to upgrade their computers which is equally as silly of a choice.
Quite the tricky issue to resolve it seems. When did this onset again?
And yes bmah, I am quite certain it's a vocal minority. How many of the active players haven't complained?
Thats the thing about vocal minorities they make their point loud and clear -- even if there are not too many of them.Comment
