CRAP! Senior Paper Crisis!

I told the VP that I didn't know what the prinout was at first cuz the teacher was flipping through the pages so fast and it was a website that I couldn't even tell where it was from, and I told him that the license agreement says that it takes a couple weeks for the essay to be reviewed, so I was suprised to see it get accepted so fast... That's why I didn't know what it was at first...

Good job with getting away with lying so far. I probably would have done the same thing if I somehow ended up in your position. It was the first thing I thought of doing when I read your problem, but I didn't want to be the only one telling you not to take the honest route. Also, lying is like the only sport I'm good at; I convinced my P.E. teacher to excuse my friend from wrestling because 'his dad used to beat him and put him in submission when he was little and he freaks out if he gets pinned down now.' I got $5 out of the deal from my friend. . .he really hated wrestling.
I only feel a LITTLE bit bad because of how serious the look on his face was when I told him. (Please don't hate me, think of the MONEY!)

As much as the situation looks like you might be able to pull it off now, good luck digging yourself out of this hole you've dug yourself into.

In college, you have to cite sources on JAVA CODE. If you don't tell them you got some part from the API, they get pissed.

Of course, it's so obvious when students copy something from the 'net. I can tell everybody's writing patterns here already and I'm pretty positive I can point out 1 post out of 1000 where you didn't actually use your own words (if this hypothetical situation were to occur).

Remember kids: Half-credit is still credit. Cheating is 0 credit and referrals.

The thing is, he's not in college right now. Of course, if does this in college, he's boned, but the point is that he's still in High School.

I would like to know this: If you said you wanted to try submitting it because your friend was bragging to you, how did you get away with the teacher not asking which friend it was? Because he is violating the law just as much as you are in this scenario.

The VP, councelor, and teacher asked which friend, and I just told them it is one of my online buddies that lives in Rhode Island...

As for a little update...

The VP doesn't believe me I suppose, but somewhat does, the teacher doesn't believe me one bit, cuz he's a chatch... And he says that my story to him, and my story to the VP didn't match up, which is dumb, cuz it DOES match up PERFECTLY, and if anything didn't match up, it's only because the VP and the teacher must have lost something in the communication... But w/e... (Seriously... In everything the teacher does, if it's not what he says, then the person is lying and he hates being proven wrong) But then the teacher is like, you have an excuse for everything, and I was like, No, I have a reason for everything because I'm telling the truth and I'm not going to just stand here all blank faced and speechless... At that point he got pretty pissed cuz I could have kept on going and tried proving him wrong (Which would have been EASY... Thank you 3 years of debate class), so he just sent me to the councelor's office without having to wait for a slip... But yeah... The councelor is REALLY cool and believes me wholeheartidly and is backing me up on all of this...

Sad thing is that the teacher is treating me guilty until proven innocent and that isn't right, so he says that if I bring substantial evidence saying the essay is mine, then he MIGHT consider giving me some credit, but if I don't by after spring break, it's night school for me... Which would suck...

But yeah... This pretty much closes this topic for now, cuz I'm going to be gone all spring break on a cruise for a week, and there won't be any school, so there won't be any updating until next next monday...

Zajac, I cannot understand why you are trying to keep these lies going. They are just going to make it worse for you in the end.

Try and stall this for another two weeks, and then try to make it look like some elaborate April fools joke. Laugh heartily and produce the "real" essay (which you wrote in this two week period).

This is your only remaining option.

I think the best thing to do would be to apologise. You are only young and if it is the first time you have done something like this they may give you an opportunity to correct your mistake. Just tell your VP that you realise you have messed up and want to put it right. Ask for a second chance to re-write the essay in your own words and then just work hard on it. Most of the time teachers and principals etc are not out there to ruin your life, they are there to teach and guide you through your education. If you show honest remorse and a willingness to correct your mistake they will most likely accept it and give you a chance. Or that is what i have seen in some cases like this.
