The reason I believe god doesn't exist is because I think there's suffient evidence that human life was created without god. Also back in the days of Jesus all the miracles that Jesus did have almost all be proven to be extreme coincidences. Like when he parted the Sea or whatever, theres a chance that at that time there could have been an extreme drought causing there to be no water in that area... Oh well who cares... No one is going to prove anything here. This happens to be all opinionated...
If God created man in the picture of himself.....

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: If God created man in th
The O- God has never messed up. He is perfect- everything about Him. The great flood was made on purpose- Since he made man to have their own will, they chose to sin, and the world sinned, so He started over. Yes, He could do anything, he could have stopped them from sinning, but God gave man a choice whether to follow Him and sadly, many of us have chosen to reject God's wonderful gift of life.
Anyway, when God said he created us in His image, I think he meant he gave us the ability to love, to have feelings, etc. God the Father and The Holy Spirit (as in the Trinity) do not have an image. But God the Son (Jesus) was most likely like others in the Middle East area.Comment

Actually, DNA variations were more common in the past, but then there was a point in time where the population bottle-necked because of a flood, and humans became more alike, because the people with different DNA died. Human DNA doest split like you were saying though, but it was further split back then than it is now.Originally posted by veldI think as the years passed by, our skin colors started to differ. I learned it in public high school, 9th grade, history class. The teacher was talking about how our DNA started to split or something. We adapted to different enviroments on this planet, like extreme hot and cold weather, etc.
I guess it's part of being human.
And, who knows, maybe God and Jesus had some really really really good tan. :P

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: If God created man in th
In the I Samuel 16:7 it says "But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." "
This means that God is not bound by the same things man is. He isn't concerned with apearance so why should we?Comment

Re: If God created man in the picture of himself.....
If he created man in the image of himself, this would imply only that he created man to look like him. This has little to do with race because it never said in the bible that god is white. Every race as a vast difference of looks in their people, take two white people and one asian and the took white people won't necessarily look the most the same. The term 'white' or 'caucasion' means people whos ansestors originated from Europe, any one who thinks god originated from europe and has the nerve to say that he is white is a complete and utter idiot in my eye.Originally posted by rockwjzIf God created man in the picture of himself, then why are there more black people in the world than white people? Or more asians then whites? I cant stand when neo-christians beleive that god is only white, how can they be sure? I love how the movie Bruce Almighty(starring Jim Carrey) choose Morgan Freeman to be God. By the way, Im white myself, but i just dont understand how god can only be white.......OR, is he a mix of every type of human being? Anyone have any explanations? thoughts? inputs? im open!Comment

My appathy towards this subject increases as I read this pointless and insignificant babble. This is anti-intellectualism at it's best. Besides...have you ever looked at a platapus? If God exists he must have taken one too many hits from his bong while putting that shit together. And with cloning and gene splicing we can do better than God. So what is the point of him existing anywayz? I say we just throw back a shot of whiskey and forget about the bastard all together.Comment

what you have to say isn't intellectual either, and the bong analogy? I hate it when people criticise other's intelligence in a way that isn't intelligent itself- you are missing the point of the thread it isnt asking you if you believe in god, it is asking you why OTHER PEOPLE think of him as being of caucasion decent. You used big words to try to sound smart, you failed.Originally posted by tifa-samaMy appathy towards this subject increases as I read this pointless and insignificant babble. tifa-sama, when I look at a platypus I prefer to say that God does have a sense of humor. And quit trying to sound smart because you don't sound intelligent just by using fancy words.Comment

Let's say, every christmas you bake cookies in the form of Christmas trees. Now, just because those cookies resemble christmas trees, doesnt mean they are christmas trees.
God his not human, therefore cannot be classified under a certain race.Comment

so I was talking to someone, and a few parts stood out as particularly good.
Faithful: what do you beleive in?
Faithful: nothing?
Alain: I believe in many things
Faithful: ???
Alain: and I don't believe in the storybook called the bible
Faithful: ok so you believe then that gases all of a sudden came together and poof there is earth ! or do you beleive that some organism transformed into a human?
Faithful: how can you stand on someones guess?
Faithful: the bible makes sense
Alain: the bible makes no sense
Faithful: have you ever read it?
Alain: what do you think, that some gasses came together and all of the sudden, poof, god came to exist?
Alain: yes I've read it
Faithful: God is omniopresent , we can't understand it
Faithful: you obviously read the words but not really understood them
Alain: the universe is omnipresent, we can't understand it
Alain: there's a difference between understanding words and stupidly accepting them as truth
Faithful: I have done my research and the bible is the only thing that makes sense
Alain: No you haven't. If your parents had raised you as Moslem you would have believed that were the truth
Faithful: no i choose what i beleive , infact i haven't beleived in this my whole life. I am the type of person who can't live my life wondering why the heck am i on this earth, how did it get here, is there a purpose for my existance, how did this come about. Evoulution and the big bang theory are dumb. THe bible makes sense .
Faithful: How can you think there is no God when you look at earth and the human body. We are made with such detail and design. We are soo perfect. How do you suppose that came about? I would be a fool to live my life not worrying about it or just living life not knowing. Obviously there was a master mind behind it and you would be dumb to think otherwise.
Faithful: i find it hard to relate to people who dont believe there is a God. How can they not?
Faithful: Every breath you take is a gift from him yet you take it for granted...
Alain: Anyways, I don't believe in all the fancy analogies and beautiful depictions that make people want to believe in god just because they think they will get a reward from it
Alain: Basically, believing in god is selfish
Alain: That’s all I have to say on the matter
sure enough though, I had to say more on the matter…
Alain: People were always telling me about God, his greatness, and all the teachings of the bible, and I believed in him as long as I believed in Santa Clause, because that's all God is, another santa clause, there to make you behave, except there are no presents in the basement to ever show you the truth, you need to reason it out yourself.
Faithful: hes not like santa though.... hes real
Alain: I just stopped taking everyone's teachings for blind truth and did a little truth-seeking myself, and it's all just a story. I could write a book called "The Teachings" and have it full of my own story of how the universe came about, completely mystical and fake, and full of things about how "the light of the gods fused and there was earth" and other ambiguous crap, and if it had been around the same time as the bible, and had been taken so seriously, and taught people that if you were good, and believed, that you wouldn't just die pointlessly like what the truth was, but would instead live again in some ambiguous happier life, then it could be like the Bible.
Faithful: so you think then after we die we are nothing?? just nothing?
Alain: yep
Faithful: i guess you will figure that out when your dead
Faithful: does that not at all freak you out thinking that way...
Faithful: i would want to commit suicide if i thought like that
Alain: I won't figure anything out when I'm dead
Alain: Because there will be nothing
Faithful: whats the point in life if your just going to die and become nothing
Alain: and why would you want to commit suicide?
Alain: all the more reason to live for the present
Faithful: thats dumb
Alain: This is your only time existing, so take it for what you have
Faithful: actually you will live forever and when you figure that out it will be too late
Alain: Don’t waste your life in the hope that there's something better after it
Alain: it just means you'll die a little less scared
Faithful: dont waste your life thinking theres nothing to it and then later on finding out you missed out on the best relationship you could ever have with the God that made you
Alain: Having a relationship with God is like having Schizophrenia
Best line ^^
Faithful: to me your a flat character, there is no depth to you, you would rather live your life believing in nothing and thinking you have no purose and you just ended up here just cause.....
Alain: Why am I a flat character, because I make my own purpose in life instead of believing an ambiguous book?
Faithful: look at yourself you have five fingers one each hand to pick stuff up with , feet to be able to balance on the ground, eyes to see, ears to hear, a mind to think. YOur body is soo complex and works soo perfectly... everything is put together right..
Faithful: your not deep becuase you can't figure out why your here
Alain: Wonders of evolution
Alain: I know why I'm here
Alain: and it's not to believe what some ruddy book says
Faithful: thats sick, you actually think that nothing made you soo perfect
Alain: We aren't perfect at all
Alain: You just selfishly think you're a perfect being
Faithful: you would rather believe in a humans weird thouights then an actual writte book on how you got here
Faithful: its a theory not a fact
Faithful: in fact it shouldn't be a theory its a guess
Alain: What does it matter that it's a book?
Alain: Someone could have pissed it in the snow and it would have the same validity
^^ Another good line
It always comes down to this, doesn't it. You know they are finished arguing when they say:
Alain: Anyway, I'm not arguing that evolution is right; I'm arguing that god is wrong
Faithful: yea but hes not wrong and one day when your burning in hell you will realize that
Alain: oh noes
Faithful: i guess we can agree to disagree
Alain: it always seems to come down to that
