I am going to the University of Washington, in large part because I can stil live at home while doing so.

It's a pretty good school with a ton of different things you can do. I am currently planning to major in Computer Science.

I'm going to a community school in the area right now, and then transfering to another school for some sort of education (hopefully Music Ed, if not, math). I was looking at Montclair State University because they have a fairly decent music program, and I can live at home... if not, William Paterson University.
      Yay MySpace

        TAKE CALCULUS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Just do it. Take things higher than that if you can. TRUST ME.

Ugh, Squeek that bothers me so much. Know why?

Most of the Universities here in Ontario offer Business Administration but half of them require you to have Calculus. The other half don't but highly recommend it. Meanwhile I'm terrible at math, I'm taking data managment which is the easiest of the University level maths. In physics last year I finished with a 50, the last possible passing grade. My best friend got somewhere in the 70's in the same class, he's now taking Calculus and nearly failing, and I hear it is very similier to physics. What chance do I have here really?

I'm 3rd Year Electrical Engineering here (University of Manitoba). From my experience calculus is only a necessity if you're planning to major in anything dealing with sciences or engineering.

Going into things dealing with Business Administration, Managment, Finance, Accounting, very minimal calculus is required. Which is why most universities have a simpler version of calculus that most of their business students take in their first year.

Heh, I'll be taking Calc 3 come Senior year.

Taught 3 days a week. About 5 classmates.

            But that's...a while from now.

            Signature subject to change.

I'm also on my last year of high school, but I really narrowed down myself to going in one of the most popular universities in U.S.:

              U.C. Berkeley
You cannot possibly have a room any better than this.

Freak: I've been through all this crap already, applying last year, and let me tell you that you don't have much to worry about.

I ended up in an Ivy league University (Western Ontario) and I failed: Chemistry, Algebra, Physics. I also didn't take Calculus. I got in on an General Arts, and will be majoring in Film next year. You've got very little to worry about. If your marks are on or even slightly below the cutoff, you're probably a lock to get in to any school you applied to.

University is a sham, anyway. But that's just my opinion. Hope you like writing pointless essays.

You should have gotten a PM from me about UW awhile back... if you didn't, I'll resend. ;p

Anyways, I've been starting to research colleges in my state, and I'm thinking of going to someplace like Evergreen, University of WA, WA State University, or Eastern WA University (where my mom went to college :P). Out of state students pay a lot in tuition though up here, no matter which one you go to.

I'm starting to look into more prestigious schools like MIT or UCLA or Stanford or something like that, but I don't really have high hopes for those kinds of schools.

RE: Re: RE: Going into University/College

I go to Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. This is my last semester. I'm graduating with a BS (lol judge 1) in Applied Mathematics (Computer Science concentration) and a minor in Sociology.

How much programming do I know? Little. How much math do I know? Quite a large amount. How much sociology do I know? After this semester, a good amount (since I'm taking 3 this semester).

Basically, I don't know any specifics, but I have a broad knowledge base. If you wanted me to write a simple program right now, it'd take me a bit. I don't do it on my free time. It's like any spoken language. So like my Spanish, my programming is quite rusty.

Also, my thinking is that if I can get the base down, then I'm positive I can get the specifics. For example, the hardest part of math is being able to get the basics of that area of math, like Calculus. Once you make it through Calc 1, the rest are pretty easy. You have the ability to understand it; then all it takes is time to learn it.

Yep, especially since I am going into computer engineering.

AP Calc AB this year and AP Calc BC next year. (AB = 1 and BC = 2)

University of Evansville in Evansville, IN.

I recommend it to everyone. It may not look like much (especially from the website) but it is really amazing. (And humble.)

I love it more than any other college I looked at, and that included prestigious ones (Carnegie Mellon, Notre Dame, etc.)

I hope that any outgoing high school student at least takes a look at it.

Established in 1854, the University of Evansville is a private university in the southwestern region of Indiana. The University has a rich tradition of academic excellence and has been recognized across the country and the globe.

when I attend College in 2 years, I will be looking for a Full Scholarship to a school where I can swim on a 1A team. I am currently looking to get into Stanford, Virginia Tech, or the University of Michigan. With a 3.6 GPA, 1990/2400 PSAT (in 10th grade) and my swimming ranks, I believe this is possible for me.

I hate SUNY Purchase so much--the place is practically falling apart all over itself. So for right now I'm applying for CUNY John Jay for this coming fall.
