Re: Should America help struggling countries?

Its good to help people, but why should America help other countries? Countries are not people. If I see someone starving on the street I would likely help them out, but even then who’s to say the person doesn’t deserve to starve. The only way I can see myself getting in that position is if I were an addict or something. Of course I know some people just have really crappy luck, but the majority of people in America choose to be where they are. Not always directly, but as a consequence of their actions. Anyway to get back to the point at hand you can’t have rich people without poor people. Apply that to countries and you can see that America is a great power because other countries aren’t as powerful. Countries must compete for power. Let’s say for instance we succeed in helping all the poor countries. Everyone is equal in power, so it’s the perfect world, right? Well now if one of those countries happens to have a ruler like any of the many corrupt leaders America has put into power. That country could easily destroy America. Also America’s economy thrives in times of war, plus millions of people volunteer to become soldiers. Millions more kill people illegally. Humans like any other creature on earth are programmed to compete with each other. We will always fight there is no way around it. And if America helps other countries to gain as much power as it America could easily fall. A good example of this is pure communism. It has never worked and will. Communism on a global scale would be disastorous.

Another point is that we should help ourselves. America has its fair share of starving poor people. Why are all these people going to Africa when we have thousands of people here who are homeless and dyeing?

As a final note, why should America be the one to do this? I think that all countries should work together to help each other out, if that is what they want to do. America is currently the greatest nation. But several countries have economies which are growing much faster than Americas. China for example threatens to outdo America if they continue their current trend. I just think that America needs to take care of itself before it starts worrying about other countries. We shouldn’t go around imposing our beliefs on other countries unless we ourselves are perfect. I suppose it is good that we are helping them improve, but who’s to say that left alone, they wouldn’t create something greater than America. Perhaps some type of government unique to itself that surpasses ours. Japan for example stayed isolated for years, and now its culture works in a way that nearly eliminates gun crimes. Their crime rates are far less than any other country I know of.
