Best electronic album to come out in the late nineties
This is a question that's been running in my head for quite some time. The late nineties was an absolutely amazing time for electronica, but, I just can't put my finger on the best one.
"Dig Your Own Hole" (Chemical Brothers) redefined big beat, but, at the same time, so did "You've Come a long way, Baby" (Fatboy Slim). And who could forget about "The Fat of the Land" (The Prodigy) with the legendary "Smack my Bitch Up." I haven't even mentioned any such album as "Discovery" or "Burn, Berlin, Burn" So, yeah. What's the best electronic album to come out in the late nineties? My vote is with "The Fat of the Land" |

Europop was a good album, but it just went along the lines, and really didn't break any boundaries.
It was a massive success in Europe, though. |

Amon Tobin - Permutation
Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy Tortoise - TNT First two are jazzy like hell and have great drums. HND is definitely my favorite Squarepusher album but I'd say Permutation is second to Supermodified (2000). TNT has some great dreamy jazz with some electronic-influences. I've heard good stuff about Air's Moon Safari. I might touch on more stuff later. P.S. In before Music has the Right to Children. edit: Casino Versus Japan - Go Hawaii is totally bliss. I agree with Fat of the Land vote. It's one of the only electronica albums I can sit down and listen to all the way through (not doing anything else) without getting bored.
