Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

Because with other controllers you were forced to using two hands(unless your uber talented with massive hands). And each hand was equally important. Having to push the buttons with the right hand and having to move the analog stick with your left.

If anything I would say being right handed would be a handicap with conventional controllers because I think that the analog stick is the most important and hard to control thing on a controller, pushing buttons with your left hand doesn't seem too hard. But moving an analog stick I personnally think would be a lot easier with my right hand.

It would be fun if they had of made controllers for both lefties and righties. I think i would do much better on first-person shooting games if I could've used my right hand on the analog stick.

Because your story is totally true. Jesus, you should totally write a novel about how this happened.

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

Also, is this a problem currently? Current controllers don't come in two pieces and I never heard of lefties complaining about that.
Like kentbball said, current controllers are fairly balanced between using left and right hands. Pointing a gun or swinging a sword is quite a bit harder and more precise than moving with an analog stick.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

I don't know. Maybe Nintendo has a "reverse" mode for lefties? I don't necessarily think it would make a large enough difference to force each game to reverse its controls in the code. If a right-handed vertical downward slash looks like this right-handed

            / (top = start)

Then left-handed would look like this

            \

And it's merely got to detect the motion in reverse.

Anyway, Nintendo said it wasn't a problem, and I'm sure they've had at least one person test the console as a lefty. Heck, they had a few at this journalist preview they held last week.

Oh, and it looks like my Wal-Mart plans have hit the dirt. My Wal-Mart isn't a 24-hour store, and the people working there are too stupid to know if they're going to do a midnight launch. At this point, the Costco bundle seems to be the best course of action. It's cheaper and the quantities are astounding, let alone the fact that not a lot of people will think to go to Costco. The problem is that most people who work for Costco say the bundle is Wii, Zelda, and Excite Truck. Excite Truck doesn't look fun to me because I hate most racing games. But, if it's all they have, then hey, I'm guaranteed a Wii and Zelda. That's good enough. Oh, and I can pick up Banana Blitz for $43. Hot.

Most DS games have a left handed mode, so I suppose they have it covered.

Excite Truck looks pretty neat, and that's not just because of the control scheme.

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

I hope it is, because Costco is bundling Excite Truck with Zelda and the console. There are no other bundle options. =/

So along with the bundle, I'm also getting Banana Blitz from Costco for $43.99. That's awesome.

I have work that day, so I'm going to have to send my mom to get it. That's trouble just waiting to happen >_>

                    Lame and lol.

Good news for me though. My older brother got a job at Argos who are not taking pre orders. My brother will be there at 7:20ish-am and they open at 8:00am to the public. He said he'd let me in with the rest of the staff. Sounds dodgy I know but he assured me it would be alright as the manager is doing the same thing for her daughter. I am much pleased with that. I would be second in the que. That is, if it all goes to plan. If I come up with an equally awesome plan B I will cancel my pre order from Game.

PS. Not a new video but its still awesome, http://uk.wii.com/software/game_01_02/

Squeek: Watch and wait how your Wii dreams disappear before your very eyes, when a line of customers at Costco sweep away each and every Wii before your mother even gets there.

I'm playing it safe. I decided to preorder a second run at Game Crazy so I'm not fistfighting at Best Buy, or standing in line for 30+ hours.

Oh, and an FYI: the Wiimote and nunchuk, if anybody plans on getting extras, are separate purchases.

                      In other news: http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/remote/...ons-214123.php

There was another Kotaku story detailing a comparison between racing games on an in-store Wii and PS3 on my RSS ticker, but the item seems to have disappeared completely, from my ticker, history, and Kotaku. Basically, the gist of it was that the Wii game was new, interesting, and memorable. The PS3 game was the same racing game from two generations ago. Though I didn't think of that before, couple the fact that PS3 games currently look like 360 games in terms of graphics, it makes me wonder why people are flailing over the PS3.

Oh, something else I'm getting worried about... we've heard that the Opera browser would be free (for half a year) a few months ago, right? Well, that is true and confirmed for Japan, but what about the U.S.? The systems have lockouts, so the hardware is obviously configured differently. Nobody can tell me about it, and I can't find any info myself either. Does anybody know 100% one way or the other?

I'd assume it's for the US since they mentioned it. It's not like they'd go and say "hey sup browser for free for half a year!" and go around and say "lol j/k only for Japan." That's not Nintendo.

Ok, so the Costco near my house is not getting any. Thanks Costco. You've ruined me.

Now we're going for Target. Why? People would generally think to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, or Wal-Mart. Besides, Target is the only store that actually has their launch numbers available.

                              Try it. It helps.

I'm worrying again about not being able to get Twilight Princess at launch.

I've already pre-ordered Twilight Princess, and Madden '07.

If I can't get a Wii at the Wal-Mart by my campus, the GameCrazy by my house said they were getting a shipment in on Sunday, which they will be able to sell that next Monday. So I'm not worried at all about not getting one.

Worst case scenario, I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday.

The PS3's are just the opposite though.
