EDIT: aww... you can't see the name of my opponent... "TassMPHelper". Basically, I've started playing myself in MP... so that I'm simulating SP. Much easier than trying to play others in MP, as I can easily quit out and start again.

the arrows are in a different location in SP vs MP. they are lower on the screen in SP... so you have to screenshrink a different amount for each... and I guess it messes with your timing a bit.
because on average, I'm much more consistent with good PA in MP than SP.
EDIT: No... doesn't boost my MP at all. a lv. 25 beating a lv. 1 gives 0 exp... the only thing it does is increase my wins and win%.
