      I don't hate women...much.

Its just the way it is, men have jobs, women have babies. Until there is an equal number of fathers who are the primary caretaker for the kids, there will be an unequal number of men in higher, better paid jobs.

And plus as a woman why the hell would i want to go and work all day when i have a man perfectly willing to do that for me =D.

        Age?: 20
        Sex?: M
Desired Career Path? (If you don't know, just put one you most think): Aerospace Engineer
Hypothetically, if you were to persue a career in medicine, would you rather study to become a doctor or a nurse?: Doc
Why did you choose the answer you did?: If I'm going to spend tons of money on med school, I'm gonna go all the way.
Why didn't you choose the other answer?: Plus male Nurses still seem gay.
Would you ever seriously consider a career in medicine, if money was not an issue?: I wouldn't, I hate both Biology and Chemisty and have no interest to pursue them.

I'm really confused as to why people keep associating nurses with a lighter workload.

Nurses are the ones making the hourly checks on heart attack patients, cleaning sheets, assisting elderly people to the bathroom, bringing up food, administering medication or shots. Beyond that they present comfort for anyone upset about his or her stay in a hospital. So, not only must they posess knowledge of medicine, they also have to have interpersonal skills to deal with every type of patient who walks through the door.

A doctor has a heavy workload, yes, but the doctor is only there when there's a problem or someone needs to be cut open. My grandma can't remember the name of the surgeon who saved her life, but she can remember all the nurses.

On that note, when my grandma was in the hospital, the three of us (her, my mom, and I) all hated the nights when this one male nurse worked. He had a terrible bedside manner and always left my grandma all flustered and uncomfortable. All the other nurses were female and they were incredible -- bright, cheery, even at 4 am.

Probably because women on the whole tend to be better at strictly interpersonal stuff.

I'm pretty sure I could be a good doctor, but I'm almost certain I would not be able to be a nurse. Jesus christ they have a hard job, sure they're not on call all the time, but when they are at work, they work HARD. You really have to love caring for people or you cannot be a nurse.

Well Hell, as long as we're picking individual doctors we can be, I want to be Dr. Cox.

Almost had me fooled that time, british_bmx.

@emptiness: no one said there's anything wrong with a lighter workload. We are saying that a lot of people in this thread seem to have the assumption that a nurse's job is not as hard as a doctor's, which just isn't true. The workload for nurses is ridiculous.
