People in Advanced: Even if you think you're going to lose, it's essential that you submit a score anyway. If you don't submit a score, you're basically out--if you submit one you can still advance even if you lose.

How does that work?
I thought it went like this:
1, 2, and 3 are in a group.
Week 1: 1-2
Week 2: 3-W1/2
Week 3: 3-L1/2
Whoever wins the most goes on... if theres a tie, then the two play a tiebreaker to see who advances.
If each player wins once in a group, the winner will be determined by whoever lost the fewest weighted points overall (from an AAA) on their two songs.
Songs are weighted as if they each had the same maximum.
And yes, this means that the songs will be around the same difficulty in the first three rounds of Advanced.

not really. especially if he throws it into an excel sheet... shouldn't take more than a minute or two for each group.
and out of 16 groups, i'll be surprised it more than 2 or 3 TOPS go 1-1 for all 3. for that to happen, all 3 need to be about equal skill, and i just don't see that happening.
