Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

Just so you know, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a 2007 title.

For release, I'm looking into Zelda, Super Monkey Ball, Warioware, and maybe Mario. Metroid Prime 3 and Red Steel I am holding off on. I want to find out how well they go over. I can tell Zelda will be great, and the producers of Super Monkey Ball have never let me down. Warioware is a Nintendo game, so they obviously know the workings of the controller (I've seen how well it works in the demo videos), and it's one of my favorite games. Mario just seems to be a game that'll take a lot of time, which is good.

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

I suggest everyone check out all the media they can for Rayman Raving Rabbids. Seems poised to be a real surprise title. Super Mario Galaxy also will probably not launch alongside the console (confirmed to be within 6 months of launch though). Rumors suggest Metroid Prime 3 may miss launch as well.

That said, my launch titles are: Zelda, Super Monkey Ball, Rayman, ExciteTruck, some of the Wii ____ titles (Don't know enough about the compilations, and the price to be sure at this point) and (maybe) WarioWare.

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

If you remember correctly, a lot of experts claimed that a major reason that the GCN failed was because a Mario game did not launch with the console. From what I've heard, Nintendo intends to not let that happen again. But, from a realistic standpoint, I can see it missing launch again. Time will tell, I suppose.

Now, this is all coming from one person, and although he is a trustable source, it needs to be verified. I talked to the manager of a local EB Games, and he is set to attend a convention/meeting/whatever for Gamestop. At that whatever, he will find out what the official launch date for Wii is, and by then preorders will be taken. He said he'd know by mid-September, which leads me to believe he'd attend the meeting sometime between today and the 15th of September.

What I found interesting, though, was his slant on the Wii's release date, though not confirmed. He said that October was an absolutely horrible month to release consoles, and that a post-Thanksgiving launch was a bad idea as well. The post-Thanksgiving launch bit didn't surprise me, but the October thing did. His take is that it will launch one or two weeks before Thanksgiving, alongside the PS3.

Like I said, yet to be confirmed, but this is a guy "in" on the business.

the best time for a console to get released is november because of the measures a person might have to take to acquire the system. take halo 2 for example. it was released november 9th and topped the charts(also to its anticipation). i had to wait until december to get my copy. anyway, the wii gettin released in september or october makes no sense at all.

After straining my eyes to read your post, why would october or september be and bad month for releasing anything? I think it woul be a good idea to finish the summer dry spell with the launch of a brand new system. But, right at the beginning of summer would probably be the very best. Even though there isn't any holiday, there's noting else coming out, and you can just drop the price right after christmas, it's brilliant.

Nah, you pretty much have to do it between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Pre-halloween, nobody cares about new electronics. As Thanksgiving approaches, so does Black Friday: the biggest sales day of the year. You need to put your launch in this window to be successful.

Not only that, but it gives you a solid month of ads for Christmastime.

October would be great. I'm not sure why it wouldn't. Games which get released in October which are of AAA calibur still get a HUGE boost for the holidays. A console would be no different.

I don't see the Wii as being that great a console, it's main purpose is to support any game previously made by Nintendo Corp. for the most part, which any rom can do perfectly, and get this...IT'S FREE. The Wii's only unique attribute was it's controller with the motion sensor idea, but PS3 quickly adapted that during E3 Sony is t3h h4x

                      1) ROMs are illegal.

                      2) Its main purpose is not the Virtual Console. Its main purpose is to play games. It plays Gamecube games, it plays Wii games.

                      3) The motion sensing controller has three axes of full 360 degree tilt. The PS3 controller goes one axis and goes six degrees. Sony STOLE the idea from Nintendo and poorly adapted it last-minute.

I don't know why you keep hyping PS3 EVERY TIME YOU POST. Do you work for Sony or something?

Re: The Revolution (Wii) is Here.

I was hoping that they would eventually release LOZ: Twilight Princess for the Gamecube... but it looks like it's being further developed for the Wii. Doesn't really piss me off, just felt it would be good if it was released for the Gamecube, although I think Nintendo may be releasing this game for both the 'Cube and the Wii, which depends.

But I still can't wait for the Wii. It's gonna be awesome. But it's gonna be until a price drop before I get it XD.

Actually, I think most people wait for a price drop. Just some people are downright impatient, and just go buy anything they want when they come out. Also, I would think the PS3 is gonna be very bad. Good graphics and contents galore, but the price.... UGH.

Another thing, I'm gonna especially like that new controller. Because of how it is, people will be required to move more when playing. Probably not by that much, but will still probably liven up gameplay with how the controller will be.

                            To Squeek: Yes

And the PS3 is the best. Just in my opinion I think it's games are the most enjoyable, and unlike XBOX or Nintendo with each console it actually is upgraded than the previous model. The Wii has the same graphics as the Gamecube, so really no change has been made. And yes roms are illegal, but everyone uses them anyway.

                              Ah, I must disagree.

The graphics capabilities of the Wii still have yet to be released.

Please tell me what PS3 games look enjoyable. I haven't seen a single exclusive title that looks like it's worth $600. On the other hand, I have a hard time choosing three out of all the launch titles of Wii I want to get on the day I get the system. I want about twenty games right off the bat.

Squeek, Wii's graphics are basically on par with top tier gamecube games.

Even Nintendo said that there would be virtually no difference between the new Zelda's on the Gamecube and wii.

Not that I'm knocking the Wii, I have enough $ to get both it and the PS3.
