Re: What's your favorite anime?
Has anyone been following "Welcome to the NHK!" ?
The series is based off a novel and looks like it might be the series of the year for me (so far... assuming the rest keeps up.) It's a mix between drama, comedy and just... randomness... I enjoy watching every minute of it.
Other than that, I've seen a lot of anime. I can't say that I a specific favourite, but a few series do stand out in my mind.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad - A series about music, teenagers, japan, america and love- so basically something that almost anyone can relate to. Not the fastest moving series, but every episode gives you something to think about, or at least sing afterwards. Great soundtrack for this series as well.
Full Moon wo Sagashhite - One of the best romance/dramas I've seen in a long time. Definitely the best Jpop I've heard in any anime series in this one. Also a slow paced story, but the last half picks up the pace and leads to one of the most satisfying endings I've seen in any series.
Ayashi no Ceres - A fast paced action/romance with an intriguing storyline and likeable characters. This series reminded me a lot of X/1999, another great series, but it was more focused on personal character development than the overall plot. Great opening theme as well as one of the most disappointing (yet satisfying at the same time, is that possible?) endings.
All of these series deserve a watch by everyone, even if they don't seem to be your "kind of series" right off the bat. Ayashi no Ceres was the only one of these three series that had me after one episode. The other two took a few episodes but were well worth it.
EDIT: rofl, can't spell SHlte... but that's what it is: Full Moon wo SAGASHlTE...
