I was told about this by a friend. Honestly, I don't really care.

This should be the source of really bad jokes, not great debates.

its so awesome because the teachers at school still teach it as if it were still a planet and i love telling them that its not a planet and they dont believe me and everyone in class backs me up and we make the teacher look stupid! ahhhh good times, good times.

Are you in 4th grade or something?

Last I checked, basic planets of the solar system isn't taught in high school or middle school.

Oh wow, I didn't know teachers weren't allowed to mention the names of the planets after the 4th grade. I am totally going to tell my Astronomy professor about that tomorrow.

Not gonna lie, though, jewp, I don't ever recall the planets being mentioned by a teacher during all of high school.

Well, not in high school, but definately in Middle School. At least Californian public schools are required to teach astronomy in the 6th grade.

My form of this was in a self-selected "class" that was taught every Friday for like 2 hours. I don't think it was as high on the curriculum as it should have been.

Regardless of when you stopped learning planets, animefreak is lying.

Any science teacher would be all over this and would want to be the first to tell his/her students.

Also, don't attempt to make your teacher look like an idiot. A) Your teacher does not make enough money to put up with morons like you, but s/he does it anyway. B) Your teacher is undoubtedly smarter than you.

They teach atronomy in like... 7th grade.

The last time i heard about any planets was actually middle school.

I had math teachers that I taught... They were really old people that the school hired for lack of anyone better.

I learned about the planets before I was even in school from some science books. They're sitting on a bookcase in this room right now too.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT PLUTO!!!!!!!!!!!! CURSE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Calvin and hobbes were riding down the hill on thier sled. "I wonder how fast we are going." inquired calvin, "Well, we could calculate our feet per second, and convert that into miles per hour." said Hobbes.
"That sounds like math..." said Calvin.
                                "It is." said Hobbes
And calvin looked at hobbes, his eyes shining with intelligence and youth, and said "I suddenly dont care anymore."
