I hate using the bar.. I see it as cheating.. I've only done it when I've desperately wanted to beat a song I couldn't while using feet. Surprisingly, I do better on foot than with the bar.

It's nothing to do with falling off the pads. Using the bar allows you to move faster and expend less energy doing so.

Using the bar is not cheating, as it's been said before even in this thread, if it was cheating Konami or Roxor wouldn't have put it on the machines.
