An easy way to get your rank down is to attempt all the files you've never even done before. One day, my rank was 30,000+. On that same day it was well under 1,000.
I was thinking about doing that. Even if I fail miserably, my rank can't get any worse than it already is with a 0 score. Some points are better than no points, and will get a better rank. It means I won't have a chance to score really well on my first play of the songs, but I probably never had that chance anyway. I don't think I'll get the same kind of improvement you did, as you're clearly a better player than I am. But by playing FotBB, my song rank went to 50k-something from 250k, and improved my average rank by about 1200. So I should get a decent increase, definitely enough to get under 10k.
P.S. -- I played a few songs earlier and scored a bit better on some. This took my average rank to about 11916.
Edit: I played through all the songs I have, but didn't try yet. Besides confirming that many of them are insanely hard for me (I have trouble imagining people doing well on them, especially one-handed), it did improve my average rank. Still not great because too many songs still kick my butt, but I've managed to get my average rank to about 7660 now.
Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers. One-Hander Skill Tokens unlocked: The V2 Token, The Patience Token, X_X1MissX_X, AAA v5, T.H.E.G.A.M.E.T.O.K.E.N Pseudo Skill Tokens unlocked: Numbers 21, 44, 33, 57, 26, 24, 47, 95
I think you should be posting a list of all the songs you've played, not just your top ten.
Well, I prefer showing my ranks on songs I actually play... which is not alot, i'm really picky. Also, there's alot of songs on FFR I never played or played just once.
