I think it is safe to say anyone reading this thread has contemplated the idea for themself.

You can support or be neutral about a subject and still not want to partake in the action yourself.

I didn't. 8) I'm not a lesbo (I don't even like my sister), and I don't have a brother.

Ah, well. I guess it's not as abormal nowadays. I know a long, long time ago it wasn't unusual because they married siblings/relatives to keep bloodlines pure. I dunno, it just seems kind of awkward to do so. It kind of sparks a first-reaction of "ewww", but I guess if you really love someone....you really love someone.

Dude IMO I think it's wrong to have sex for any reason than out of love. So if you two fell in love which would be awkward . . . yea.

Love? As shocking as it may be to you but a lot of people don't do sex out of love, but because it's a form of entertainment, and they are physically attracted to each other. If you meant love as a form of physical attraction, maybe... ;o

You can't justify something if you wouldn't do it yourself IMO.

I can't say I agree with that logic in any way.

Is it wrong? Technically, we can't definitively say either way, since right and wrong is all a matter of opinion. I can almost gurantee you that having sex with your sister isn't socially accepted in nearly any developed nation.

Keep in mind these are adults. At a young age that could cause some psychological damage, whereas with adults this isn't necessarily it. There's always the case of not knowing you're related at the time, only to later discover such (hence the long lost thing).

My personal opinion is that I don't see anything wrong with incest sexual behavior, but it's certainly something I'd never take part in unless under some extreme conditions. Inbreeding, however, is another story.

In the modern age, is it wrong to have sex with your sister?

We first must overcome the fact that we do not become sexually attracted to those we spent our early childhood with, so if you imagine a sister who was seperated at birth.

Now we must overcome the reason for this sibling non-attraction; the fact that genetic diversity is the goal of a species and individual. Close relatives having children can cause concentration of harmfull mutations, and increases the susceptability of the group to parasites. It's this fact that has caused the incest laws to be created. Of course in our modern world sex is not used for procreation. Sex is becoming as much a hobby as hiking, or stamp collecting. You do it because you enjoy it, and actively look to prevent the actual act of conception.

So if you imagine that you are reunited with a sister that you were seperated from at a very early age, and you both consented - if you used effective contraception, would it be wrong to have sex? (And if it's crossed your mind, No, i have never committed incest, and i do not plan to.This is purely thought related)

I dont think its wrong. If you wanna have sex with your sister, be my guest, i just wish i had a sister now ^_^

In our society, it's "wrong" to have relations with family members. We grow up seeing our family different than others not in our family. It varies depending on how close we are and what kind of life we grow up and live. The socialization in our society teaches us it is wrong. However, there are a few societies where it is not wrong. So it all depends where... Regardless, I feel it's in our nature to feel differently towards our family than to others, hence the majority of societies view it as wrong.
