The Nintendo 64 was discontinued not long after its release.

The N64 was released on June 23, 1996 in Japan, September 29, 1996 in North America and Puerto Rico, March 1, 1997 in Europe/Australia and September 1, 1997 in France.

In 2001, the Nintendo 64 was replaced by the disc-based Nintendo GameCube...

Ok, so more than 4 years of successful selling to be replaced by a new console to compete more effectively with the competitions's new systems is considered being "discontinued not long after its release."

And by the way, the N64 is probably among the top for used consoles being bought from used gaming shops. The N64 definitely faired very well. N64 has many very solid games, decent graphics, and a nice controller. The only reason Nintendo isn't still making games for it is because there is now better technology (gamecube with much better graphics and wii with CRAZY inovation of controller design along with competetive graphics).

Oh, and one more thing. The wii is supposed to be able to download all of the "discontinued" and apparently unsuccessful games from previous systems. GG.

Why would Nintendo "discontinue their system shortly after release"? Would they just go on the market for a set amount of time with no console? No, because that would be stupid. It's the latest technology for that company released, so they will keep producing until something replaces it.

By the way, what system(s) do you like? I'm sure you're a stupid Microsoft Fanboy or something like that. Whatever you are, you're stupid. I was 10x smarter than you when I was 12, and that's saying something.

Dummyman, provide us evidence that shortly after release, Nintendo halted production and distribution of the Nintendo 64. There is a staggering amount of evidence against you, so it's in your best interest to prove yourself as soon as possible.

He is kind of like my friend who said that the gamecube was $300 when it came out. When I pointed out the wikipedia article he said "anyone can edit it, you prolly put that in". When I finally convinced him he kept saying that the wii's graphics are gonna suck, and that it will be closer to $400 when it comes out.

Lmao you guys don't think I am 17 no, I am 3. Ok guys I admit that I was wrong b/c I am tired of aruging about this. Obviously the stores around here quit selling the Nintendo 64 and the games before it was discontinued. My apologies. O btw I looked it up the Nintendo 64 was released in 1996 and was discontinued in 2001. O and Lord_Carbo actually I like PS2 and Xbox and opinions cannot be proven true. Say that the sun is out and it is warm outside, I think that it is a pretty day. Ok someone else thinks that rainy days are pretty, well there is nothing I can say that will prove that the day is pretty. If it could be proven it would be called a fact not an opinion.

Insulting another person's spelling or grammar rather than their argument is a pretty lame way to try to win an argument.

If you're going to do it, you have to do other points of evidence first, then back them up with the fact that they cannot spell.
