I wrote a paper once in seventh grade that was really nice.. So nice infact that the teacher told me it looked like I copied it straight from the encyclopedia..

Actually, it's funny. Someone whom I know once said they got in trouble for plagerizing once but they claimed to have paraphrased, and I believe that person =/ They got off the hook, supposively. Sometimes, your paraphrases can be quite similar to another source.
I let some girl in my class, borrow my paper and copy it exactly last year... Didn't even get caught...then again, it was a different teacher. But I was kind of scared.

          Ugh.

Writing an original paper takes like 15-30 minutes per page required. It's not that hard.

What I love is when I get a 110% on my papers for writing an original, interesting, and informative paper. Every time.

I remember this. Didn't post in the thread, but I remember looking at it.

I've never plagarized if I could help it, but I sometimes have a really hard time paraphrasing things, especially from notes. When I expand a phrase into a sentence, I often use the same wording that the original source had, unintentionally. So I have to think of a new way to say it when I proofread and go "whoa that looks really familiar".

And yeah, teachers take off an insane amount of points if you forget to cite ANYTHING.

I only started using turnitin.com this year.
It's a good thing that teachers would still look through the submitted papers, though. It seems that cited quotes may show up on the screen as plagarism even if you miss just one small punctuation mark.

And shame on you, mickey, for talking back to a teacher. Don't you know that school is a dictatorship? (Just kidding. XD )

Squeek: I really want more specifics on this "changing stuff doesnt work" thing. If I were to change the entire sentence structure ("one day bob was walking" becomes "bob was walking one day"), interchange the adjectives ("popular" becomes "illustrious") and maybe even word the subjects differently ("president bush" becomes "george w bush"), that S.O.B. program will sniff out where I got it from? I have no problem citing sources, I enjoy trying to be original as possible, what I have a problem with is having to utterly clutter up my writing with parenthesis(es?) that say "(this is where I got that sentence you just read)".
