I agree with this

but I also think a post limit between 5-10 is reasonable with the goal of not having people go completely MIA. it forces them to check into the thread so you can't use the "maybe people will just think I'm not here" strat

I think having a number so that people know what the absolutely barest minimum is in the host's opinion is inherently better than people not knowing

it also can be used to replace people when they don't request it because they're just that afk

in an ideal world, they wouldn't exist of course
