I tried running on the treadmill but I get really bad shin splints from it so I gave up on that. I tried increasing the incline to help simulate running on pavement but it didn't help. I don't understand how people do it lol.
I h a t e treadmills. They fuck up my knees and shins every time no matter what and I think it's because of the way they rattle. A 1.5 incline on a treadmill pretty closely simulates the amount of wind resistance you'd get from running outside, but it doesn't make it not destroy your knees, and injury is a really common problem in running.

Ellipticals are really good in terms of a low impact way to hit your target heart rate. They get boring so I focus really hard on pushing myself when I'm on them. I also highly recommend rowing machines (ergometers) if you have one around as a way to mix in other cardio with running. Stairsteppers are also a good mixup as well as stationary bikes.

When I have to do cardio inside for long stretches indoors I find that mixing up the machines I use every day like that helps keep things interested, keeps a good variety of muscle groups in shape, and keeps me from overstraining certain parts of my body.

Also check out if you have DDR machines around for a hella good high intensity interval sport~

Yeah I usually go with the stationary bike and stair stepper. Planet fitness doesn't have row machines which is lame because I like those. I'm not a fan of elliptical because that's probably the most boring thing for me haha.

We have a couple of good ddr/itg cabinets near by but I can't really afford it lol. On the plus side, the air quality is better so I'm going to start running outside again

                    3x5 of 300 is solid.

Thanks man. I'm pretty sure I could do more but I did that after hitting PR on squat and my legs were already jelly by then haha

You're making crazy progress on bench press.

I'm guessing they don't have any free weight benches though. It would be really nice to transition to that because it's a much better exercise, but while I've never been to a planet fitness the lunk alarm would lead me to believe they don't have free benches.

Thanks! Yeah unfortunately they don't have any barbells but they do have free weights and benches. I alternate between Smith machine bench press and dumbbell bench press that way my stabalizer muscles get worked too. Right now I do 4 sets of 12 at 50 each with neutral grip both flat and incline.

When I switch gyms I don't want to be a complete mess when benching with an actual barbell so I do more free weight work for what I can haha

                              Slight update:

                              I fluctuate between 260-265 now
                              Bench press: 4x5 @ 205
                              Deadlift: 3x5 @ 320
Squat: 1x5 @ 250 (this is actually a surprise because I haven't done barbell squats since mid September. I've been doing body weight/dumbbell squat variations because I don't like the way the squats feel with heavy weight on the Smith machine)
                              Shirt size: 2xl almost entirely
                              Pants: 38 almost entirely

I haven't really lost weight since like mid September but my body looks better and I've gotten stronger so I'm not too worried about that

Also not related to my main goals but I can do 3-4 reps of dips and I can do 2 chin ups and one pull up which I didn't think I'd be able to do so soon and that's cool
