The Dave and Buster's in El Paso has one

It's the latest edition, but PiU Prime has all the old songs too. Some of the songs you may remember would be Beethoven Virus, Canon D, just all the classics by Banya, some of which got stepped in SM and such too

post-dumps abstractly represent the existential nihilism that the song invokes in the listener with negative space, evoking the ephemeral nature of the mind - the journey of stepmania begins in hope yet soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of futility, leaving only a sense of dread and the unlikelihood of a new synthesis

Re: Are DDR machines on the verge of extinction?!?

I can only speak for my area, Nashville, TN, and the game is pretty popular here. I know of players who live in Kentucky, Indiana, & North Alabama who travel here on a regular basis to play DDR.
It kinda surprises me that Dallas doesn't have a DDR A cabinet nearby.

MooMoo: ahh ok sweet. Those names brought back good memories. Those are definitely the names of the best songs I became fond of.
I will try scower a dave and busters in the area and I might have some luck then.

Kawaii: DDR has had a major decrease in popularity in Texas. Ten years ago their were arcades everywhere with atleast two in them. Since arcades are losing ground, their isn't too many places to put them. I know of two in my area but theyre hardly played.
DDR A cabinet? Is that a club or group of some sort?

Or are we forever destined to play alone in our basements Imagine going to the arcade with an arcade machine with stepmania + a nice keyboard on it l0l
A few years back I made this crude design for a dedicated rhythm gaming tabletop mini cabinet, if I can dig it up I'll post it, but essentially it was something like this

minus the joystick and buttons - which would obviously be replaced by the persons keyboard of choice or some sort of switches depending on preference.

I just personally never felt it was worth the hassle because of the cost involved.

Just to throw my 2 cents

There's a Dave & Busters by my house, but they don't have a DDR machine (They do have a PIU machine, but I don't play that).

As far as I know there's no DDR cabinets from after SuperNova around me. It's a shame too because I'd love to play DDR A without having to go to Chicago to do it.

Uh just popping in to say there is a Round 1 near dallas actually that will definitely have a DDR A machine there. In fact there's two of them.

One is at grapevine mills, and the other one is in Arlington Parks. I'm also pretty sure there's a fairly good rhythm game community down there, I was sure I had heard of a very good DDR player from Texas before.

Here's the link to the locations of Round 1's, and Round 1's website so you can take a look into them.

Awesome, thanks for the resource. Their fairly far from my normal area but it's nice to know we have some new arcades peppered in the metroplex. I'd like to try my hand out on this DDR A ive heard so much about.
Btw im sure there are great players around here, but they are alot harder to come by now a days. Back in the day you turn the corner in a arcade and someone would be tearing up a dance pad. Ive seen some of the best players down here but its fairly uncommon seeing someone on expert mode now a days.

Arcade machines are sometimes referred to as a cabinet. Also, if you get a chance to play DDR A, I think it'll be well worth your time~

Re: Are DDR machines on the verge of extinction?!?

As with anything else, if a DDR machine exists, then it exists. Even if it stops working, it will continue to exist until it either decays back to its basic components of matter or someone comes along and deliberately takes it apart and turn its components into something else, thus only by definition does it become quote-unquote "extinct," which is the state of not existing anymore in any given timeline or frame of time. This applies to everything, and once something goes extinct by some means or another, another someone or something will take its place, and through the means of someone or something, that someone or something will also go extinct either by self-destruction or an outside force that could not be stopped, thus creating a continuous cycle that loops on and on throughout eternity until the end of time. Does that answer your question or do I need to elaborate further?
