As mentioned before, the action of dismemberment hints toward some awareness. I think we would all like to think murder is only commited by the mentally insane.

All because her actions seem crazy to us doesn't necessarily mean that she was.

Hearing from a few other people, turns out this guy was in general not a very good roommate. He apparently would not leave his sister alone when she needed time, he didn't pay his half when splitting grocery costs, constantly inviting his friends over without permission, etc.

As you can see. The dude was a huge dickhead. Like mourningfall said we can't just assume he was the ONLY victim here. Dude was an annoying self-centered self-entitled ass.
This could have (and probably did) gone on for quite a long time. The torture the roommate(s) experienced was more than we can imagine.
Day after day. Hour after hour. Minute after grueling minute of the dude fapping to hentai and pounding on technology that shook the fuckin house.
Murder isn't cool. Neither is rhythm torture. Fuck.
