This is random but from D1 to about D4ish I pretty much only cared about FCing songs
Not having to worry about PA, and selectively mashing sections that I couldn't actually hit, was actually super super fun

I used to do that too
FCs were super important because combo scoring etc

also this, should be able to smash when I'm fully warm and playing well
