it's not the kind of file you can just "figure out" though. It's being not physically fit enough to hit the long jacks.
I'd say that I'm objectively better overall right now, but in 2011, punkture definitely would have been an easy low sdg or AAA for me. Jacks are a completely different skill than anything else in this game. If I were to exclusively play jumpstream files, I'd improve at essentially every skill, except jacks. If I were to exclusively play jack files, I'd get good at jacks and be fucking ass at everything else.

tl;dr Being good does not mean you'll be good at jacks.

Adjust your offset until you find that sweet spot that allows you to get a bunch of perfects without getting a lot of goods.
