I wouldn't pay 4 dollars to pick up a piece of shit from the sidewalk, and that's about how much I enjoyed the 7 or so hours I put into Witcher 1 before realizing it was just a bad game.
Your friend said it was a good game relatable to other good games. If you like the games that he compared it to, then you'll probably enjoy it. It also has a good metacritic score and it's 4 dollars.
Some differences between the two would be better controls, better graphics, better gameplay mechanics.
i guess it still only appeals to people who enjoy getting better at a game for no real reason, or those who like time attack based games (racing etc)
but ME has a ton of tricks (some console/pc specific) and little nitpicky tricks that make it a great game for speedrunning (on top of the fact that it's a speed based game in the first place)
I enjoyed Mirror's Edge just playing it once casually too.
Quite short, but its quality and the uniqueness of the concept makes up for that even if you don't get into the speed trials side of things.
It's like Portal 1 in that regard.
You're right, every game has a baseline that it'll never go under. However, most games will at one point be on a daily deal, flash deal, or community vote deal.
Какой идиот придумал Бутерброд с дикобраза? Он хулиган и бездельник.
how the hell is spore & its expansion still being sold on steam (non-sale price) at $30? in the year 2014? what in the goddamn hell
please don't purchase spore. for your sake and for the sake of a better world where EA doesn't continue to increase its profit margin on a "game" which has very nice creation tools and anemic actual-game content.
