It really wasn't afro. I'm simply recalling the times you and I duked it out on the brawl ladder.

If you're referring to project M for the patches, well, that's project M. You can make a game as similar to melee as you want, but it's just not melee.

You really just have no idea :\

My opposition to clinging to Melee is, as I mentioned before, that there are patches for Brawl that bring back the things people like about Melee while cutting the shit that no one likes. Brawl may not be unequivocally better than Melee, but patched Brawl definitely is. Even the awful wavedash bug in the physics engine that makes no sense at all can be added back to Brawl if you want it. On top of this, characters can be re-balanced as necessary, knocking down characters who might be seen as unfair and bringing up characters who no one would ever choose to play as due to them sucking.

      PM isnt very good lol
all of the really reworked characters are boring/stupid and it still rewards really defensive play

I undersand the spacing aspect and the mindgames, it's just something I never learned how to actually do. xD

I never went to a super competitive melee event like I have for Brawl. I've done melee locals, but I don't think anyone there knew how to wavedash either.

Well, it's not necessarily difficult, but it's not necessarily easy when using it with a follow up to something. It's "simply" Jumping, pressing R or L, and and pressing down into the stage while angling left or right.

            Hahaha.

So because I was a middle-of-the-road-at-best Pikachu player, that means that I'm a dirty casual player who only knows Brawl because Brawl will coddle my widdle baby casual player sensibilities.

            Ok.

I'm saying I remember the way you played, and the way you talked about the game in the thread. So yes, you are a casual player by definition, and there is nothing wrong with that.

That's fine, the whole not very memorable thing seems to be a common jab lately, but I was at the top of the ladder for a good amount of time and set up the first tournament for FFR which I also won.

                    KoreanDJ and Ken?

When was the last time that either of them did well at melee?
Kind of a joke lineup, neither of them have been serious contenders in many years.

On one hand this looks like the kind of headline that could be on ESEX but I'm actually really happy it isn't a joke.
I love the Melee community... good shit.

KDJ took m2k to game 5 at a tourney a few weeks ago

ken is like 4th/5th in norcal i think but he could be really fucking good if he starts playing a lot again

Taking m2k to a game 5 doesn't mean shit. Tournament placings do. Neither of those players have placed very high at a (major) tourney in the last several years.

edit: don't take this the wrong way, this is still a pretty big deal for melee, but they could have chosen much better players...

KDJ placed 17th at Apex 2014. Ken didn't go to Apex however, but he did place 9th at SCR and has been beating ranked players recently such as Fly Amanita and MacD.

I'd consider myself a pretty decent brawl player, but I never got into the melee scene. I'm honestly just waiting for SSBU and hoping to get into the competitive scene from there. I'd never consider myself an S level player, but I'm sure I would walk all over B's

Yeah I was looking for KDJ's apex standing because I was pretty sure he did fairly well for not playing very actively. KDJ's potential to be great again is pretty much unrivaled by most IMO. I could have swore Ken played at apex though even though he didn't do too great at all which was to be expected given his absence from competitive play for so long.
