I agree it's a silly mentality to solely use SRL for catching speedruns but other than following a shit-ton of streamers and getting notifications out my ass, I really don't know any alternatives for being informed on a general level for who is streaming.

I just end up following people and check my follow page on twitch. First result that shows up when I type in the letter t into my address bar.

Edit: Forgot about the notifications thing since I used a throwaway email address for my twitch account lol.

You can use this site, this list polls from all of twitch from people with certain terms in their broadcast title. The terms are:
"speedrun"
"speed run"
"any attempt" (Twitch's API ignores percent signs, even when encoded)
"wr attempt"
"100 attempt"
"pb attempt"
" rta"

Its a cool site, though a bit of an eyesore.

FINALLY got a working SNES controller so I'm getting back to Super Metroid. My current goal is to finish a 100% run. The farthest I've gotten is beating Phantoon, so I still have quite a ways to go (and that's with lots of save states to retry a lot of the difficult tricks).

The Kraid quick kill is the one trick that keeps screwing me over where I have to keep save stating until I get it I just can't figure out the timing to get it consistently. Anyone on here run Super Metroid that has any tips for making it more consistent? How do you know when to start the first jump? I just randomly guess until I happen to get it right since I can't figure out any visual or sound cues for it.

I feel like this one is post-worthy: sub-20 (in-game time) on Challenge mode Intense difficulty.

EDIT: Started to move on to another game. I wonder if there are any Tetris fans on FFR?

Recently got 2:16:14 in a Spyro the Dragon 120% run, which is pretty decent I think.

Never mind about all the Kraid stuff. Drilled the crap out of him and mostly got it figured out now :P Slowly working my way to actually completing a run but there are still so many difficult tricks to learn...fun times!

You can choose which streamers you want twitch to notify you about.

also protip shenjoku you probably shouldn't drill anything if you don't have the route down. Best to complete the game first and go from there. Playing through the game is great as you naturally get better at movement which is most important, drilling specific tricks isn't important and ultimately become easier later on anyway.

Playing through the game is great as you naturally get better at movement which is most important, drilling specific tricks isn't important and ultimately become easier later on anyway.

I've considered that, but missing the Kraid quick kill spells instant death pretty much since you have nearly no missiles after and no high-jump. Same thing with Phantoon really. If you don't know his patterns very well it's very hard to survive with such minimal health. Probably same with the other bosses I haven't really gotten to quite yet.

On a side note I got 43'01 on Ceres Escape yesterday Was rather happy with that considering I was hard pressed to ever get 40 before I practiced it for like an hour. I think the key thing I was missing was the ledge grabbing. It made getting up to the elevator so much easier to time so I don't run into like every single steam shot haha.

have fun optimizing that game, its going to take a long time, there's just too much to it, and there's some really difficult fights if you just try and rush through them
