as far as favorite (marathon?) runs roundbox posted an incredibly impressive SM 100% run. At that time it was the second best time in the world aside from the WR, which was (and still is) held by him. Pair that with Jadin's LTTP run and that was probably my favorite part of SGDQ2013.

AGDQ2013's Pocky & Rocky by PJ and mr. k stands out. There are probably some really cool highlights I can't think of because there are a lot of great marathon runs.

Oh and yeah Cosmo is pretty popular bc of his in depth commentary. Looking forward to him redeeming Wind Waker. :>

He's... beating Ganon with a Deku stick

The truly amusing part, of course, being that the Deku Stick is actually the most effective weapon in the game against Ganon.

I gotta watch all these other vids, I feel like I've been missing out on some serious gaming history or something.

LOTS of history in the most popular games. Even the less popular games have really interesting optimization histories most of the time.

If there's one that really stands out, aside from Ocarina of Time, it is Super Mario 64. Watching SM64 go from 16 star to 1-star to 0-star is epic speedrunning history. Definitely take a look into all the different SM64 categories and the origins of the BLJ trick.
In the words of TASvideos, "At first there were 70 stars because Bowser demanded it. Then there were 16 stars because MIPS the rabbit demanded it. Then there was 1 star because Bowser's Sub demanded it. Now there are none because the viewers are impatient and demanded the game be quicker."

Speedgaming is super neat when you actually see how glitches are done and why they happen. I remember my friends and I used to religiously avoid item duping in Pokemon Red/Blue because it was "cheap"...and at the time it made no sense at all but someone at school read up on it in a magazine or something in 5th grade. Most glitches are pretty difficult to execute anyways and still allow runs to be interesting (except the observation glitch in ALttP or something).

Good entertaining runs that I can remember off the top of my head:

Wind Waker in 4:44.40 at AGDQ 2013 by Cosmo -

nvm he explained it, jesus. That is the coolest glitch I think I've ever seen. Lots of logic underneath that one.

If you like that trick, look up the TAS SMW any% run. They manipulate game code pretty hard.

Probably my favorite speedrun ever. No commentary needed because there aren't any glitches, just skill (and some luck at the Ch 5 boss)
